Organizational Idea for Your Purses

CONTEST ENDED

Are you a purse collector? I’ve never though of myself as one, but it seems over the years, I have collected a lot of purses. As a teacher though, I’ve found what has really accumulated are my “teacher bags.”  I’ m not sure what non teachers call these (tote bags?), but I have my bag for bringing student papers back and forth, and then there’s my Saturday debate bag. Of course I also have a current reads bag where I store books I’ m wanting to read and consider adding to my curriulum.  Then there’s the softball mom bag, and I’ve got a Friday Night Football bag too. Seriously teachers have a tote for EVERYTHING, and I can’t seem to get enough. Every time I go shopping, I check out the tote bags if there are any in sight at all.  And if that’s not enough, every conference we teachers go to gives us what? A tote bag, of course.

I’ve transferred this appreciation on to my daughter, Cameron, it seems.  She might have more purses than I do and almost as many bagts too.  Yes, I’ve bought several of them, but not all by any means. When she goes out shopping with a grandmother, it is not uncommon for her to come home with a bag or two.

There’s only one problem with our collection obsession – storage!  What do you do when you have 20 bags and another 10 purses? Oh and don’t forget your daughter’s similar collection? For us all but the newest ones are stored in suitcases (yes, we have a lot of these too) under our beds.  This means they are out of sight, anhd you know that old saying – “Out of Sight, Out of Mind.” Once we have them shoved under our bed, we forget they exist.  While it’s always fun to “rediscover” them, I’d rather that our purses and bags get more use.

Now thanks to the ingenious design of the Closet Purse Hanger, all of Cameron’s purses and bags are now hanging nice and neat on a closet rod in her room (I have to get rid of some clothes or buy a new closet rod before taking advantage of this with my bags). I was curious to see if my theory of more use would prove to be true, and it has. Since pulling out all of her purses and bags from the suitcases and hanging them in her room on a mobile closet rod, she’s been switching bags every day or two.  They are getting lots of use, and she knows exactly how to put them all up once she’s done. It’s nice with Cameron’s bags too because many of them are small enough that we’ve been able to store 2 or 3 purses on one hook.

I’ve tried my tote bags on the few extra hooks that were left after hanging up Cameron’s bags, and I can’t wait to have room for them in my closet.  We are working on Spring cleaning now, and I hope to have room to start hanging my bags and purses soon because this is such a creative way and organized way to switch out purses and bags to match your mood or clothes.

Would you like to win your own set of Closet Purse Hangers?  Then today could be your lucky day because Shawane, creator of the Closet Purse Hanger, has generously offered a set of hangers for one reader, and this is one prize I can promise you’ll be putting to use as soon as it arrives.

Think Thin Thursday on Friday

Yes, I know I’m a day late on my Think Thin post, but I wanted to be sure to get back in the habit before I start letting my habits slip like my weekly posts have.  I was relieved when I went to check in with Bridgette to find that she had not been posting (so maybe i wasn’t missed?).  I have been working hard at watching the diet, drinking the water, and only 3 days of exercise still, but I’m sticking with those 3 days.  My life will take a big notch down next week so I plan to try to pick up the exercise goals after this week.  I’ve been think of buying a treadmill so that I can put a little more variety in my exercise, but I’m not sure since it’s getting warmer and I’ll be able to walk outside soon. So to sum up my progress lately – I’m sticking to the plan, not a lot, nothing great, but I’m staying on track with plans to pick up the pace after one mroe week.

Think Thin Week 2 Goals

If you haven’t read my other think thin posts, I have joined a blogging group where we are all working on being thinner/healthier/toner….whichever our goal is.  Read more here:

Well it’s time to set my goal for week 2.  I read somewhere that it takes a month to really start a habit so I’m going to stick to the same goal this week – no more than 2 cups/bottles/cans of tea or soda a day and at least 30 minutes of exercise on 3 different days.  It’s gotten cold here so I’m actually going to get one of those sessions here in just a few so that I can warm up. My ultimate goal is to not be embarrased to wear a swimsuit come Spring/Summer 2009!

What’s Your Erotic Personality?

While perusing one of my favorite mom sites, MomDot, I noticed a post asking “What’s Your Erotic Personality?”  It was a reference to a quiz at iVillage.  I couldn’t resist. I headed over to see what my “erotic personality” was.  I actually thought it would be fun since I feel like I have no personality right now in reference to anything erotic.  :)  But alas, I took the quiz and here’s my results:

The Risk-Taker

The Risk-Taker needs an adrenaline rush to feel true sexual excitement. If it’s forbidden, you’re the first in line to give it a try. Defying social conventions turns you on like nothing else. If it’s liable to get you fired, divorced, or ex-communicated, you’re into it. You’re not likely to “listen to reason” because level-headedness is at odds with your needs. Many risk-takers practice some form of danger-seeking in their daily lives, but some of them only fantasize about it. Danger is an aphrodisiac to you, and you are drawn to it in and out of bed.

So head over (if you dare) and find out what your erotic personality is (and be sure to come back and share)…

UCLA Study (Well….not really) :)

A study worth sharing with friends both male and female:

A study conducted by UCLA’s Department of has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle.

For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features.

However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his chest while he is on fire.  No further studies are expected.
