Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

EA Sports Active

Wow!  I’ve only done one day of the EA Sports Active, but I’m already impressed. It was fun, it was a workout, and multiple people can play (unlike the Wii Fit).  I’ve already been looking at Wii accessories to buy the pieces so that two players can play on our new game. I’ve also gone ahead and bought enough Wii controllers and numchucks so that we have 4 of each. I am acutally anxiously waiting this evening so that I can try day 2.  According to the trainer, it’ll be a slightly different workout each day to keep from being boring.  I’ll keep you posted!

Think Thin Thursday

The Not-So-Blog

I’m going to try approaching Think Thin Thursday a little different…I’m going to actually write this post for a week..contributing to it most days, but hold it and not post it until Thursday morning. Throughout the week though I’m going to post my progress or lack thereof in my exercise/diet/water routine.

Sunday, January 25, 2009

As of today, I’ve worked out Thursday night, Friday morning and today for at least 30 minutes on the Wii Fit (That’s acutally my weekly goal – YEA!). I got some added inspiration today to continue my WiiFit workouts from Julie at The Cool Mom Guide. Check out her story here of how she lost 60 points thanks to her WiiFit.  There’s actually a group called WiiFit Mommies that work together and support each other’s weight loss using the Wii Fit. There are even hosting a giveaway this week that I’m going to try to participate in if time allows with the hectic week I have planned.  Inspired by reading all about Julie and some of the others over at WiiFit Mommies, I made sure to get in my workout today before heading out to shop and stopping by my classroom to do a little prep work for the week.  I have to admit to being pretty happy too because since last Thursday, both my weight and BMI have dropped (though my WiiFit age has gone up…damn!).  But since Friday morning when I worked out, I’ve lost 1.1 pounds (down to 176.4) and my BMI dropped to 26.73 (0nly .017, but I’m happy with any and all decreases).  My stupid age went up from 39 to 43.  My trainer told me today that my ideal weight is 145 with a BMI of 22 so I’m setting that as my year’s goal. By December 31, I would like to be this “ideal” weight.  Everyone stick with me and keep me going all year (PLEASE!). I’ve thought about it today and realized that I find it much easier to drink my water when I do my 30 minutes of exercise. Within the 30 minutes of WiiFit exercising, I drink a bottle and a half (that’s half my daily goal). Ok, with my exercising done and reporting in complete for the day, I’m off to run some errands.  I am hoping to wake up at the first buzzer in the morning and do 30 minutes more on my Wii Fit.

Monday, January 26

Well as my WiiFit trainer pointed out to me so nicely, it is technically Tuesday already but I don’t care. I’m counting it as Monday because I haven’t been to bed yet and I can make my own rules.  So there!  :P  Today so more improvements.  I am sick today.  I feel like total and complete crap and almost talked myself out of doing my WiiFit today, but then as I was browsing my friend Catherine‘s blog, she was talking about doing her WiiFit every day and I just felt motivated.  So, I decided to do 30 minutes of yoga. I usually avoid the entire yoga section. It’s SOOOO boring, but I most certainly didn’t feel like doing aerobics or the balance games. Plus it is late and I didn’t want to be stuck awake the rest of the night. I need what little sleep is left for me tonight. So I completed 23 minutes of yoga. I tried a couple of the strength exercises, but I feel so weak (from being ill) that it just wasn’t happening. When I was sick of it, I headed over and did one round of hula hooping to add on a few quick minutes and then ended with the Yoga Deep Breathing to slow my body back down in preparation for bed.

Today was another good day of results.  I know that I will eventually not have a decrease day…not even a steady day.  There will be days that I go up, but for now I’m going to enjoy this slow progression down.

Today’s Results:
BMI: 26.63 (down .1 from yesterday)
Weight: 174.7 (down .7 from yesterday)
WiiFit Age: 39 (down 4 years)

So today was another good day.  I plan to get home earlier tomorrow (hopefully!!). I didn’t get home until 8 today and do my training earlier.  I’m going to set the alarm for early in the morning to get it done then, but I know I probably won’t sleep well so I won’t get up in the morning. :)

Tuesday and Wednesday

I’m just too sick. I can’t stand to do anything.  I’m going to turn in my official end of the week Think Thin post as 174.7 – down 1.8 pounds from last week!  YEA!!!  That’s almost 2 pounds!  I’m really excited.

I’m scheduling this to post in the morning, and I’ll come back and answer Bridgette’s specific Think Thin posts and set new goals Thursday evening.

Adding with this week’s topic:

This weeks task: What is YOUR motivation? Is it a pair of skinny jeans, a sexy black dress, a bathing suit, or simply being there for your kids?

My motivation has actually been my exercise technique – the WiiFit. There are two things on the WiiFit. First is my Mii.  She’s a chubby little thing and I want her to look skinnier.  Second is the line chart that shows my progress.  I like to see the downward slope.  So I guess for me it’s actually seeing the results of my effort even though I can’t tell in how my clothes fit yet.

Still Wii Fitting

I’m seriously wondering if we will be able to continue our dedication to the Wii Fit or if the newness will wear off. I have to admit that several of the people get on my nerves.  I don’t like my personal trainer when she tells me I’ve gained 2.2 pounds and decides she needs to lecture me, and the boxing coach? He’s just plain rude – every time. But overall I’m aching a little so I figure there must be soem good coming out of it. But I still need to lose more weight so I’m investigating other methods including some weight loss pills and wondering does Fenterdren work? It’s one of the many options out there that I’ve found. I’m trying to just gather information. I’m not purchasing yet. Not committing. I’m giving the Wii Fit time to help. (If only I had more patience.)

I’m a Hula Hooping Freak

Yes, that’s why my daughter has informed me after just a few days on the Wii Fit. I love it!  And one of my favorite games is the Hula Hooping game. I guess I should say games as I’ve unlocked the Super Hula Hooping game.  Talk about a workout.  By the time I finish a round of Hula Hooping and then Super Hula Hooping, I’m positve my trainer is right and I’m super out of shape, overweight, the entire shabang!  :)

It’s Time to Get Fit

Wii Fit that is!!  Yes, we finally landed a Wii Fit. (And even better we landed it for free as one of my mother figures bought it for me for an early Birthday and Christmas gift!!!)  I’m not ashamed so I’ll share with you that I’m 28 years old…Well, may Wii age is 40!!  FORTY!!  Yep, that’s one way to motivate me to get to work.  But I’m not sure about all of it’s determinates though as my physcially active almost 8 year old is 32!  Oh yea, you read right…32..only 8 years older than I am!!  And just so that the entire family’s business is aired here for the public, Becka who is 16 has a Wii Age of 31.  The 16 year old is 1 year younger than the 8 year old.  :)   We are currently busy playing it in 20 “coin” intervals.  I really hope that we stick with this. I’ve been looking for a way to get back into some sort of shape so here’s hoping the Wii Fit will help motivate me to improvement as I was not happy with the number it gave me when it told me how much I weigh (and no, that one I won’t be sharing with you).  :)
