Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

Always Pushed Aside

The one goal that always gets pushed aside? – my weight loss goals. Do you have that problem? I’ve been thinking today (now that week one is out of the way at school) and trying to decide when/how to get more fitness into my weekly routine.  I would love to start each day with a workout, but I already get up so early that I know realistically, I’m probably not going to get up any earlier, and right now I’m exhausted when I get home in the afternoons and have actually napped almost every day.  So that leaves me in a dilemma – how do I squeeze a few workouts into my routine each week?  I’m looking for ideas so if anyone has any – please send along!

Completed!

I have had this week off from bailing hay between weather, family illness, and tractor equipment failure.  But it’s been a nice week because I’ve gotten a good bit done, and Cameron has finished up 2 of her summer activities which will give us time to visit family and friends now hopefully.

Today was the last day of the Summer Reading Program hosted by our public library each year and today was the last day of her swimming class.  That frees up two days a week completely.  I usually don’t mind, and I’m happy to have her involved in all of these activities in the summer, but since I am working this summer, I’ve hated having to completely depend on grandparents to run her around the country. :)

This week we also got yearly vet trips taken care of. The dogs are vaccinated and we’ve bought our yearly supply of Frontline to keep them flea free.

The house is pretty clean. The pool chemicals are bought for the summer and the pool is in great shape.

Speaking of shape, I haven’t lost any more weight. :(  But I am continuing at least 4 days a week in the gym and I’m able to do more on all of the machines than I was at the beginning of the month.  so irregardless to me is the weight right now. At least I know I am getting healthier which was probably the #1 goal.  But to help with the weight loss. I’ve just bought EA Sports Active for the Wii, and I plan to start their 30 day challenge today.  Wish me luck and trying to keep up.  I’ve had it a few days and hesitated starting it because I’m so tired some days and if we travel/vacation I’m not home to do the 30 days, but realistically, that’s my life all the time so I figured I might as well start today.

That’s our life right now.  Busy? Of course….but still good.  Keep us updated on your lives. We miss everyone.

Getting Serious

I almost forgot to tell you that my just making small changes to work on weight/health is over, and I’m now getting serious. :)  Like I mentioned earlier things are starting to slow down here so I’m moving my focus to exercising. I’ve actually enlisted a few students and one teacher, and we are all working after school every day. That will be 5 days a week of exercising. We started today.  I’m going to also start adding in some personal exercising with the Wii Fit again to up the calories just a little.  I’ve also decided to not eat in our cafeteria much for the rest of the year.  I’ll be back to Special K lunches and Chicken Noodle lunches – low calories. Yep, the new focus – getting healthy and needing those life insurance leads I mentioned earlier. So wish me luck and watch for my posts about my progress.

Think Thin Thursday on Friday

Yes, I know I’m a day late on my Think Thin post, but I wanted to be sure to get back in the habit before I start letting my habits slip like my weekly posts have.  I was relieved when I went to check in with Bridgette to find that she had not been posting (so maybe i wasn’t missed?).  I have been working hard at watching the diet, drinking the water, and only 3 days of exercise still, but I’m sticking with those 3 days.  My life will take a big notch down next week so I plan to try to pick up the exercise goals after this week.  I’ve been think of buying a treadmill so that I can put a little more variety in my exercise, but I’m not sure since it’s getting warmer and I’ll be able to walk outside soon. So to sum up my progress lately – I’m sticking to the plan, not a lot, nothing great, but I’m staying on track with plans to pick up the pace after one mroe week.

Think Thin Thursday – February 12th

The Not-So-Blog

It’s that time again – THINK THIN THURSDAY….time to report in on our goals of becoming healthier (and hopefully thinner in the process). This has been a pretty discouraging week for me.  I’ve stuck to eating Special K twice a day, had 3 to 4 bottles of water a day, and did 3 days of physical activity, but I’ve watched the WiiFit slide up a little each check in.  Now I realize that it’s measuring to a tenth of a pound so the increases are not that big of a deal, but they are still discouraging.  So to keep me from the horrible fate of any type of diet pill such as the latest one I’ve heard about called Solo Slim, I’m going to up the ante this week.  This week I’m committing to FOUR days of exercise.  I also read that starting your day with a banana or two for breakfast could help you speed up your metabolism in the mornings so I’m modifying my morning breakfast of Special K to 2 bananas, and I’ll only do Special K for one meal a day.  Hopefully I’ll have better news to report next week with these two commitment.s
