Not Sure

But there may be some technical difficulties here this week. I’m in the process of changing over my domain name owners and my web host so I’ll apologize ahead of time if you come by and the site isn’t here or anything else really weird happens…I decided that while I had not Internet and couldn’t really post much, this was a great time to go ahead and take care of this behind the scenes stuff.  Wish me luck.  I bought a new domain without problem, but in transferring my brother’s blog’s register name (sorry..I’m sure this is the wrong wording), I ran into some problems…heading over to transfer this one now and I have no idea how that will effect this blog.

One Task for Next Week

Next week I have one major task on my list – changing hosts for my websites.  I have had it with my current on as it seems like my site is down more and more.  When you are participating in blog parties or have sponsor ads, this presents big problems when you can depend no your website hosting. For the last month or so I’ve been researching other hosts and trying to make a decision of who to go with. Just when I thought i had decided on one, I started to find ltos of people that use them that were having big problems so I was back to square one.  One site that I’ve found really useful in this resarch is Web Hosting Geeks. They have hosts ranked in order of superiority. Then they have separate lists if you know what you are looking for in a host. For example, I know that I am looking for a host that will easily handle my multiple domains so I went to their Best Multi-Domain Hosting chart to see who they recommended.  Reliability is going to actually be one of the most important factors for me.  I want my site to be up. I don’t want anymore ad suspension notices, and I don’t want to get ready to go add a post to only find that my site won’t load.  If any of you have stories to tell (good or bad), I’d love to hear them before I make the final decision next week and you should go fill out a review at Web Hosting Geeks also so others can benefit from your experiences.

The First Step to Blogging

With the fun I’m having blogging and the little bit of money I’ve made, I’ve had a few friends ask me for advice in starting blogs of their own. While their are plenty of websites where you can host your blog for free, I actually recommend that if at all possible each of them go ahead and buy their own domain name. It makes your blog more personal, and if you do want to try to earn profits off of your blog, you’ll find that you can make much more money with your own domain than you can on the big blogging conglomerates.

If you decided to take this plunge, you must decide who to host your website with. This will involve purchasing your domain and storage space for your site. It is very important to make a wise decision when choosing your host. I have learned this the hard way. While I’m happy with my provider for this site, I have run into difficulties with another site that I chose to buy domain sites from because my sites are down at least once every day (that i catch). So I am looking and doing a little research so that when my year expires, I can possibly move that domain.

Network Solutions is one possible host I can honestly say I will now consider for web site hosting.  Network Solutions was a recent winner of the FindMyHost Editors Choice award.  This in itself shows them to be worthy of consideration. I’ve reviewed their prices, and they are very competitive with other hosts that have positive feedback (charging less than $10 a month for your storage space and registering your domain for free). In addition, if you want to expand into a larger site or have mroe traffic and need additional storage space, they have different options.

Other benefits of Network Solutions? I’m impressed by the fact that they offer 24/7 Customer Service. Even with my current provider of this site who I’ve had pretty good luck with, I’ve not had that option.  In addition, I host a few other websites within my storage space and Network Solutions is capable of hosting those sites as they do in fact support PHP and MySQL. They also advertise 99.9% uptime which is very important when considering a web host (that is my current problem with some of my other sites).
