Custom Ears?!?

It’s tradition – you have to have a set of ears the first time you go to Walt Disney World – no matter how old you may be. For my youngest daughter, we’ve picked a pair each trip, but I’ve been happy to just have one set – until now!!!

You can now customize your own set of Disney ears at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.  The Chapeau, which is located near the front entrance of the Magic Kingdom, is now offering fully customizable ears.  And boy do you have lots of choices.

There are currently 19 different bases (the actual hat) to chose from and then comes the ears. There are also 19 different sets of ears that can be attached to the base. (Can’t decide? The ears actually snap on so you can buy multiple sets of ears and change them out each day of your vacation) And finally there are dozens of patches that can be added to make it even more customizable and don’t forget you can still have your name sewn on it.

Of course, if you’re a mom like me, the first thought is “and how much is this going to cost me?”  I’m pleased to say, not nearly as much as I first envisioned. Bases cost $4.95 or $5.95, ears run $2.50 and $3.50 apiece, and stickers are $2.95 a pop. The embroidered-name option is $3.

I’m really excited. I can’t wait to see the options. I have a feeling all three of us will be purchasing a new pair of Mickey Ears on our August trip to Walt Disney World.

  • The Disney Dining plan changed in 2008 and no longer includes an appetizer or a gratuity.
  • Make your ADR (advanced dining reservations) quickly. The restaurants will fill up quickly and trying to find one you can walk up to when you arrive will be almost impossible.

I so wish we could go during this time. I’ve played with the numbers, and it is so tempting! But our only option would be labor day weekend – arriving Friday night and leaving Sunday or early Monday which would only really give 2 days in the parks.  Good luck to everyone else though and be sure to come back and let me know if you are able to land this AMAZING deal. Disney Newsflash: Tea Cup Madness

Apparently everyone doesn’t feel the magic at Disney.

Jury selection begins in April for a trial being dubbed “Tea Cup Madness.” Apparently last year there was a little violence at the Tea Cup ride in the Magic Kingdom.  Charges have been filed against Victoria Walker for battery with a deadly weapon towards Aimee Krause.

According to Krause, Walker attacked her on the Tea Cup ride claiming she had skipped in line. The deadly weapon? Krause says that Walker used a lanyard to choke her. A plea bargain was offered and rejected so I think I’ll keep my eye out on this trial. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds. If Walker is found guilty, she could face 15 years in jail.

Amazing isn’t it? I’m so glad I wasn’t there to witness this. Yikes! Talk about messing up your vacation. I’m not sure what really happened, but if the trial has advanced to jury selection, I suppose there is enough evidence to make this theory possible. I can’t imagine that someone would get this upset and ugly at the Magical Place on Earth.
