Lately it seems that I’m having one Internet problem after another and it’s very annoying. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. This time it’s my mobile router that seems to be on the fritz. Yesterday it was that HughesNet told me I had exceeded my daily bandwith usage and was turned off for 24 hours (what’s new?). I wonder if this is a sign that I need to spend less time online? *sigh*

Still Searching for Computer Protection
With my current protection soon to expire, I’m still searching (remember I mentioned this yesterday?). Today I found another site for discount software that I’m considering called Software Supply Group. They have great deals on not only virus protection, but I also need to purchase Office for Cameron’s computer and they have a pretty good deal on Microsoft Office 2003 Pro. I thought one intestesting thing with Software Supply Group besides their prices was that they have a software blog. How many companies can say that? I’ve not noticed any lately. I’m still undecided on what virus protection I want, but if I go with something that Software Supply Group sales, I will probably buy from them so that I can go ahead and pick up some other software too while I’m at it. I’ve never heard of them though and would love to hear opinions from past customers if you are out there.
Defend Yourself: Computer Virus Removal
If you surf the web at all, you know (or should know) the importance of defending yourself from not only viruses, but spyware and phishing just to name a few other Internet dangers. I’ve used several different methods of protection over the years – from paid services to subscription services. I like the free version of what I use, but to get the complete package, it’s not free. The latest service I’ve been considering is CyberDefender. Why? Because you receive so many perks with the package including computer virus removal, phishing, spyware, spam, and even a toolbar for Interenet Explorer to help protect you from identity theft. One of the features I really like is that you get 2 gigabytes of storage space that you can use to backup your most important files. Last year I thought I had lost my entire first semester gradebook. It was a very frightening experience that would have been avoided if I had been subscribing to CyberDefender and utilized their storage space. I do a lot of general surfing when racking up credits for traffic exchanges that I sometimes am nervous about also. I sometimes think I should be using more protection. After comparing CyberDefender’s products and prices to several of the other products out there, I think I would get more bang for my buck with them. I’d love to hear your experiences with virus software. Anyone out there tried CyberDefender?
My New Cell Phone

I am so loving my new phone (the Palm Treo 680), but I did not at all enjoy the shopping! WOW! That was a real chore. I went to every Cellular One store in the area (this was like 8 different ones). I knew I wanted a smart phone, but I was either not liking the cellular phones or the phone prices at each one. Then there was the one that has the WORST customer service I’ve ever seen in my life of any business – EVER!!
I’m almost sad today though that my first smartphone only has me wanting more. So I’m already browsing (actually already have two picked out !). I’m in a weird position though as the “coolest” phones are not a part of my network so I have to look at phones like AT&T cell phones and then have them unlocked. There are many more smartphones out there than I even realized until I started shopping specifically for one. I know a lot of people with Blackberry phones, but I’m not sure if I want to learn how to use it. I think I probably want another Palm as I’ve had the regular Palm PDA’s before and now have the Palm phone so I’m familiar with the software. I’ve been looking at some pretty slick Sprint phones though and if it’s possible to have them unlocked, there area few I’d really like to see up close. I found a really neat site that has these offers for free phones from all the major networks including Verizon cell phones. The website is called BestInCellPhones. If you are willing to go through their process you could end up with some awesome deals on a new phone. The only brand I didn’t really find anything that looked really appealing to me were the TMobile phones. But I had a bad experience with TMobile a while back so that’s probably makes me not like them before I even look at them. But back to the point. If you love new technology – especially cell phones – but don’t like the shopping process. Check out some online vendors and you might find a much better (maybe even free) deals than in the stores in your neighborhood. I can assure you I won’t be making any more in store purchases.
Following the Crowd?
Or maybe I’m blazing a trail? It’s all in perspective. I’ve noticed a lot about Google Chrome online lately so I guess I am following the crowd. I want to see what all the hype is about, but I don’t know anyone personally that is using it so with our locals, I’m blazing a trail – I’m the technology guru!
So I downloaded Google Chrome this morning and I’m about to close out my trusty firefox and give it a whirl. I’m sure I’ll have lots to say about it over the next few days so come back to find out how it goes.
