Tax Refunds

So have you filed your income taxes? (I hope so since April 15 has passed). Are you going to receive a refund? Do you have plans for it yet? How about the economic stimulus payment? Will you be stimulating our economy? Or saving it? I’m proud to say that I’m not going to really be stimulating the economy with either of my checks.  Normally I do use my refund to purchase a big ticket item that I’ve had my eye on, but this year I’m being smart – I’m applying it towards my debt (my car and student loans).  My goal is to have the car paid off ASAP and then I’ll start paying a little more on the student loans and try to get rid of it in a somewhat slower fashion (it has a low interest rate that I can live with).  So while I sit with others who are thinking of blowing their money, I’m sitting around at times wishing for that big ticket item I’ve been wanting and at times thinking “Yea me for being so responsible!”  My brother just bought my Dad’s truck from him and is going to spend his checks on making some cosmetic changes to it like a spray in bedliner, and he’s looking at Chevy grilles. So what are you doing with your IRS checks this year? Anything exciting?
