There are a few things that mark summer in our family. There’s a process (that has nothing to do with the day marked on the calendar as “First Day of Summer.” First there’s the packing of the winter clothes and taking them to storage. This means that the weather here is telling us “it’s summer.” That’s typically early to mid May for us here in East Texas. Second is the end of the school year at the end of May. Yep. No school is a very big step towards summer! That may be the largest one step. Next are the girls and their summer camps. And the final step is eating vegetables out of dad’s garden. YEA!! That was accomplished today. While sitting here visiting for Father’s Day, I’ve already had 2 tasty tomatoes (cut up and sprinkled with salt and pepper). I love garden fresh tomatoes. I could eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I can’t wait until they have so much coming out of the garden that they are begging us to take some home. That’s when the eating will get really good.
Happy Father’s Day everyone and Happy Summer!
