It’s beginning to feel a lot like summer around here. It’s close to or above 80 degrees every day. Time to tan and shed those extra winter pounds. Sit in any teacher’s lounge and you’ll hear plans of losing those last few before summer – more exercise, diet, fat burner, and many other words relating to weight and summer. Eighty degrees and weight loss talk? Time for me to start a countdown to summer!
Look for summer posts soon!

Completed!
I have had this week off from bailing hay between weather, family illness, and tractor equipment failure. But it’s been a nice week because I’ve gotten a good bit done, and Cameron has finished up 2 of her summer activities which will give us time to visit family and friends now hopefully.
Today was the last day of the Summer Reading Program hosted by our public library each year and today was the last day of her swimming class. That frees up two days a week completely. I usually don’t mind, and I’m happy to have her involved in all of these activities in the summer, but since I am working this summer, I’ve hated having to completely depend on grandparents to run her around the country.
This week we also got yearly vet trips taken care of. The dogs are vaccinated and we’ve bought our yearly supply of Frontline to keep them flea free.
The house is pretty clean. The pool chemicals are bought for the summer and the pool is in great shape.
Speaking of shape, I haven’t lost any more weight.
But I am continuing at least 4 days a week in the gym and I’m able to do more on all of the machines than I was at the beginning of the month. so irregardless to me is the weight right now. At least I know I am getting healthier which was probably the #1 goal. But to help with the weight loss. I’ve just bought EA Sports Active for the Wii, and I plan to start their 30 day challenge today. Wish me luck and trying to keep up. I’ve had it a few days and hesitated starting it because I’m so tired some days and if we travel/vacation I’m not home to do the 30 days, but realistically, that’s my life all the time so I figured I might as well start today.
That’s our life right now. Busy? Of course….but still good. Keep us updated on your lives. We miss everyone.
I Got A JOB!
You probably didn’t even know I was looking, right? Well I wasn’t really actively, but I was hoping to find a way to make a little extra money this summer as I took a paycut when I changed jobs and got a new teenage daughter in that same summer. We manage, but sometimes it’s tight. My dad finally agreed today to let me work for him baling hay this summer. I’ve been trying to convince him for months, but he didn’t think I could handle the heat and dirt. I finally convinced him to let me start. My brother gets to finish the current job and then I get to take over the next one.
I know, I know…I sound crazy…happy to be out baling hay when I have a college degree? I’m not overly excited about the heat and dirt, but I figure it’ll be good for my tan and the money will definitly be good for the budget! On top of that, Becka has an interview tomorrow so we both may have jobs! That will be even better.
I really think that Daddy thinks I’ll do it for a day or two and then wuss out so I’m determined to stick with it even if it is awful – just to prove him wrong.
I had planned to join the gym and get on top of my fitness – this might mess up that plan and I’ll have to come up with another fitness plan as I’ll be working too many hours I think to be at the gym during their hours, but I’m going to start by getting up around daylight each morning (starting in the morning) and walking to the highway and back. That’s about a mile and a half. I’m going to start with just doing it once and timing myself and working on doing it faster and faster, but eventually hope to up it to two laps each morning. I’ve been looking at exercise videos and looking for some combination I’ll like that I could do in the evenings as well as mixing in the WiiFit.
I’ve got to do some shopping though as my summer and clothing attire don’t really lend themselves to manual labor. I’ve been looking for some type of women’s shoes that I can wear that will be safe, but that I can deal with too. If it was up to Daddy, I’d be in jeans and boots, but that’s not happening. I have to admit that I’m not looking forward to the tan lines (especially the shoe/sock line). I may have to go just put my feet in the tanning bed…lol
I also plan to get back into my surveys, reward programs, and blogging so I’m going to sit down tomorrow and work out a daily schedule that will give me a designated time for exercise, surveys, reward sites, forums that I love, and blogging as well as working on school stuff for next year – WOW?!? Isn’t this supposed to be my time off. Oh well…It’s ok. I still think it will be a great summer!
SwimSuit Season is Fast Approaching
We pulled the cover off the pull this weekend and it was GREEN and NASTY!! Ugh! I was really disgusted, but it’s nothing new. The pool is green every spring. I’ve never figured out how to keep it clean through the winter. With no time to run back and forth to a town big enough that has pool chemicals, I ran to the local dollar store and bought 10 gallons of bleach. We poured all 10 gallons in the pool Sunday. Monday the pool looked a LOT better. It’s nowhere near swim ready, but it’s not green and algae ridden anymore. It’s now just murky. I bought 5 more gallons today, and Cameron dumped it in.
This got me thinking – it’s about swimsuit season, and like I said yesterday – I’m NOT READY! I’m sure that it happens all the time, but it’s when I’m so concerned about my weight that I notice the commercials and ads in the newspaper and magazine for diet aids such as Nutrislim and lipo 6 black. It sounds freaky, but it seems like maybe the advertisers know that summer is approaching and so they are pushing their “fast slimming” techniques. Have you noticed that? It’s driving me crazy, but maybe I’ll use that as more motivation to get my act together.
Whew! Is it Summer?
I am loving it. It’s 10:20 PM and it’s 70 degrees outside and only supposed to drop another degree or two overnight. I am ready for some warm weather. I am ready for suntans and swimming – I’m even ready to mow the yard (yea, that won’t last long), but this warm weather has me looking outside to see what improvements are needed and which I’d like to do. I think we are going to our local hardware store this weekend as I’ve wanted to extend the dog pen soon so they have more room to run and play, but because one is a jumper I have to have 6 foot wire and one is a digger so the bottom has to be wired too. Fence installation is not on the top of my list as fun, but something I’d like to get done soon as I feel like the current pen is just not large enough for our poor puppies.
I am going to storage tomorrow to dig out some summer clothes and take a box of winter clothes of mine and Cameron’s. We’ll still keep some of our winter clothes, but not much. I’m ready to pack up those last ones now. I actually love winter and the cold, but by this point, I’m ready for sunshine. Of course by August, I’ll be ready for fall. :)
Remember how things should be slowed down now? No more working weekends? Instead of working, I’m now being the active mom – tomorrow we have to be up bright and early for Cameron to go to softball practice, and then Becka has One Act Play practice after that. I am going phone shopping tomorrow though so I might have something fun to talk about when I get in tomorrow.
