Bought Three Dresses for Blogher

So Cameron and I spent hours shopping yesterday.  It’s been a long time since I actually enjoyed a shopping day out (that should be a blog post of its own), but it was actually fun and thus I spent way too much money.  These are the three dresses I bought for the Blogher Parties, dinners.  In particular, I wanted a dress for the MomDot dinner we’re having Thursday night.  I can’t wait to meet the MomDot women than have grown to be almost like an extended family.

So without further adieu, here are the three dresses I bought for Blogher….I haven’t lost the weight I had hoped to this summer (even though I’ve watched my diet, worked out, and not tried any of the “best diet pills“, but I think the dresses still look cute.  What do you think? Which one should I wear to the MomDot dinner Thursday night?

Graduation Presents

I have a few more graduation presents to buy and I’m looking for ideas.  I bought most of the girls on my list jewelry, but there are a couple tom boys on my list that I still am clueless about. I don’t like to give money, but find special gifts that they will keep forever and have something special to always treasure.  I know a good friend that buys towels, but those don’t last.  I’ve research other ideas, but they are all things that will be used up in a short time – not a lasting gift.

Another gift I always buy is the book Oh! The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss. I love to buy this and include a special note on the inside cover from me.

Ideas?

I Need A New…

laptop bag.  I’ve been looking off and on today and wondering, “Why do I make this so difficult?”   I should just buy the simple black bags that I’ve had in the past, but instead I want to find something “girly.”  But I’m on a limited budget so that makes the search challenging.  And then there’s the fact that I would USE it. My laptop goes in the case and is carried almost every day.  It has to be durable and cute.  I’m not even real sure where to start.  My pal, Catherine, suggested a few sites and I’ve been looking but just haven’t found anything in the price range that I want.  It really blows my mind how much people charge for these simple bags.  I have a ton of bags too so now I’m thinking of just buying one of the sleeves to give it a little padding and then using them.  If anyone knows of any good places to get cute laptop cases for really good prices though, let me know.  I might could be persuaded.

Ok Contact Lense Wearers….

How often do you wear your glasses?  There was a time in my life when I NEVER went out of the house in my glasses (much to my eye doctor’s dismay).  I wore them at home – MAYBE.  I did not want to be seen in glasses – no way, no how, but I find as I get older that I don’t mind wearing my glasses so much.  I’ve actually started wearing them for no reason other than just sheer laziness of putting my contacts in, but I think I might wear them even more if I started thinking of them as a fashion accessory.  I got this idea from my teenager (Becka) who we had to buy glasses for earlier this year.  We decided to try out Zenni Optical after seeing a newscast on their great prices and have been really satisfied. Since they are so reasonably priced, I’ve acutally bought Becka 3 different pair of glasses, and she does in fact wear them like fashion accessories – depending on the outfit she’s wearing.  I was really surprised when she mentioned that she had thought I’d have bought her a pair of holiday frames for Christmas as she had hinted several times.  I absolutely didn’t catch that hint at all. LOL  So I guess the one present I didn’t get my girls that they wanted was eyeglasses. Isn’t that weird?  She has district debate coming up soon so I’m thinking that I might buy her a new pair or two now and give them to her for good luck that morning. And maybe JUST MAYBE I’ll buy me a couple pair and try out wearing glasses  more often.

Did You Finish

… your last minute shopping? If you were like me, you spent this week buying lots of last minute gifts. I admit that Kmart is actually not a place that I shop much at during the regular year as it’s an hour drvie from my house to the nearest Kmart, but I did pick up several last minute gifts from Kmart this year. And then I checked my email this afternoon after being blissfully done shopping to find the opportunity to share with you some of the great gifts Kmart has for under $25.  I think most of us this year have been on a budget so finding gifts that are high quality and low priced is a VERY nice plus. One item that I buy every year are tools for my dad.  He has always insisted and I guess in the long run convinced me that Craftman is the only brand that I should buy. Being able to buy those at somewhere other than just Sears makes me happy.

Hopefully, being Christmas Eve, most of you have finished your Christmas shopping, but if not (maybe you celebrate a Christmas with family and friends later), remember that Kmart is currently advertising that they have 25,000 Quality Gifts Under $25. That’s a huge number and a decent price.  (And remember many of these items will probably be marked down even more starting the 26th.)
