Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Price Increase

If you’ve never heard of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, it is a salon for princesses of all ages at walt Disney World where you can get a makeover by the Fairy Godmothers In Training. It is a really unique experience. when we went in December, I made an appointment for all three of us.  We had our hair styled and makeup done. Cameron had her nails done also.  There is also the option to buy princess dresses for the complete makeover. We did not do this option as the cost really starts to add up. I really do recommend this for all little girls at least once. I think it makes for an awesome Disney experience that a young girl will never forget. I’ve in fact planned an appointment for my youngest as a surprise on her birthday next month, and so I was particularly disappointed to find out that the prices for this experience have gone up again!! Here are the new prices:

Coach Package increased from $44.95 up to $49.95.
Crown Package increased from $49.95 up to $54.95.
Castle Package increased from a range of $179.95 to $249.95 up to $189.95 to $249.95.

If you want to take your little boy to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a Cool Dude do then you’ll be happy that the price of this package has decreased from $10 to $7.50.

Angelina Jolie Criticises Disney

With all the headlines I’m reading, it appears that Angelina Jolie has made it her mission to make sure the entire world is aware that Disney has not yet produced a movie with an African princess. While I do think she makes a valid point, and I think it is something that Disney needs to correct, I think this is a prime example of someone in power using their popularity to make a bigger deal of things than they really are.

First off, if you or I made this comment, it would not even make our local newspapers more and likely, but because of who Angelina is this is making headline after headline.

Second, when those who are popular/powerful do take a stand and try to get changes, it would be great if it was for society, but no – that’s not Angelina’s concerns. Her only concerns are her girls. She was quoted in The Herald Sun as saying, “There still isn’t a Disney princess that’s African and it’s very difficult because our daughters’ getting into princesses right now and it upsets me.”

Third, Angelina is speaking and making headlines without doing any research. It was published a couple months ago that Disney is in fact in the process of creating an African American princess in a movie titled “The Frog Princess.” The movie is set to be released in 2009.  And what really irks me about this is those that don’t follow Disney news closely will probably give Angelina Jolie credit for “forcing Disney to look at the issue.”
