Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

I Took The Plunge!!

I’m so excited. I finally took the plunge. I’ve been researching digital cameras and trying to get the nerve up to do this for two years. Finally today I did it. I ordered my first SLR camera.  Cameron is active in dance, twirling, basketball, and softball. I would LOVE to have good pictures of all of her accomplishments, but it seems that I take tons of pictures, and only end up with a couple good ones in the end. It’s so frustrating too because my current digital camera is not a cheap one, but when it comes to low lighting or motion, it just isn’t good enough. After doing research and visiting a lot of photography forums, I decided that I wanted a Pentax. Then it came time to look at models. If you’ve never looked at SLR cameras, let me tell you, the price is not friendly (or at least not when you are a teacher in rural East Texas).  So even though I picked out the brand and eventually the model that I wanted, I still just couldn’t shell out the dough.

So today I did it. I went to Amazon (the best place I could find for the camera I wanted) and ordered a Pentax K100D Super (see link to left).  I ordered it in a kit so that I’ll have a lens for it (an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens). I had been carrying around a check for $400 for two weeks trying to decide what to do with it. Today it just hit me – quit procrastinating and do it.  So I ran by the house this afternoon on the way to town to email myself the file where I store my Amazon.com gift certificates (I had $170 saved) and while Cameron was at dance class, I went to my parents’ house and ordered it.  Now I’m going to be checking the mail every day waiting for my new toy.
