Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

Party Time!

Today was Cameron’s birthday party.  Much to my dismay I could not talk her out of a swimming party so we had a party at our house (the first in 9 years).  In the past I’ve always been about to talk her into a public location whether it be a restaurant or the lake, but she had her heart set on a party at the house this year – even when I made stipulations like only inviting a couple of her closest friends (with just  family we have so many already and a SMALL house).

The party went great I think.  Everyone arrived and all kids and teenagers (oops! my brother’s aren’t teenagers anymore) heading to the pool for the first hour.  Towards the end of the hour, I started grasshoppers (an appetizer that is expected at all functions I attend/host) and hot dogs on the BBQ pit…as everyone dried off and some changed, they started eating on the nachos and hot dogs.

After that very healthy dinner, we had cake and ice cream and then Cameron opened her presents.

I had feared rain (no way we’d have all easily fit in the house), but it was a nice evening.  I feared extreme heat, but it wasn’t THAT bad – for East Texas in August that is.

The one thing about our house meant I never got to sit and relax…but still…it went nice.  I’ll post party pictures tomorrow as well as a few short video clips from my new Flip camera that I got to play with.

After the party and the last of the guests left, we headed to Nac (a neighboring town) where I took Cameron and the one friend who is spending the night to a tattoo parlor.  Oh yea, you read right….Cameron finished her birthday party with a trip to a tattoo bar…….

But NO ONE GOT A TATTOO!!  Were you worried?  Becka got her belly button pierced, and we video’d it….here it is (have to post so everyone can see!)

Friday the 13th Party at MomDot

What are you doing this Friday? If you haven’t looked at your calendar, you might not realize it, but this Friday is one of those great and exciting Fridays – Friday the 13th!

I have started spending my Friday nights with the MomDot girls at Friday Night Live. Besides having a great time chatting, Trisha always gives us some great blogging advice – a Blogging 101 session each week if you will.

But this week, it will be different.  Much different.  This week there will be no lessons.  Instead it is PARTY TIME!!

It will be a night of online games including R rated scattergories, a scavenger hunt, and a Keg!  yep, you read right – Trisha is promising us a MAJOR PARTY with some super awesome prizes from the following sponsors:

Can you imagine the fun? We’ll be winning everything but a discount kitchen sinks. Come and join the fun Friday. You won’t be disappointed.

Mom Dot Party Day 10

Yes.  My day has finally come to guest write the post for the MomDot Christmas Party.  So today you won’t find my answer here at All About Kimberly, instead you’ll have to head over to the contest post for the day at MomDot to see my answer to:

Do you decorate for the Holidays?  Do you have a themed Christmas tree?  Share pics!  Do you think there is such a thing as OVER decorating?

Got an answer? Or took pictures of past years’ decorations (I’ve already started taking this year’s pictures with my Nikon D90)?  Want to know more about this party? Well head over to MomDot, my favorite mom blog site to find out how to join in the fun and celebrate Christmas with the MomDot family.

Tomorrow’s the Big Day!!

Yes, tomorrow’s the big day. On Wednesday, we begin THE CHRISTMAS PARTY of the year – the MomDot Christmas Party.  I’ve spent the last couple days preparing for the party, and I can’t wait forit to begin.

So how will the party work?

Each day on the MomDot page starting tomorrow (but skipping weekends), you’ll find a new topic to blog about.  After blogging about it and including links to the party blog post and the sponsor post, you should come back to the MomDot contest post and sign Mr. Linky with a link to your post for the day.  This gives you one entry into the contest. But you can earn many more entries.  How? By going to everyone else’s contest posts and leaving a comment.  After that you can come back to MomDot and report in on the blogs you visited and commented.  Yes.  That means you can have as many entries as there are participants each day.  How amazing is that?

I’ve already gotten the list of topics and prepared my contest posts. Yes, this time I’m on top of my game and ready to go.  Even if you don’t feel that you’ll be lucky enough to win any of the great prizes that Trisha has, I can guarantee you’ll have fun writing the posts.  I’ve had such a great time thinking back on my childhood memories and remembering holidays with families and even other times like the Persimmon trees in the front yard of my childhood home that we would throw at each other after they fell from the tree.  Yes, participating in the MomDot Christmas Party will be a wonderful experience and help you get in the spirit of the holidays just by thinking about the things so important to this time of year  - family, friends, traditions, and giving.
