Halloween is almost here, and Cameron’s costume arrived today. She couldn’t decide and couldn’t decide what she wanted to be until last week! Thank goodness Disney is great at order fulfillment. I ordered on Thursday, did not pay for expedited shipping, and it arrived today! What’s she going to be? Belle! We’ve now been Snow White, a Disney witch (it was a Disney princess costume, but in black and orange), Tinkerbell, Jasmine, Cinderella, and this year – Belle! We’ve almost made it through all of the Princesses and then some. :-) Watch for pictures Wednesday for Wordless Wednesday!

PR Blackout Post #2: R.I.P
I had another topic picked for today’s content post, but I’ve just not been able to sit down and make myself write about it. Why? Because last night we discovered our dog, Dale, had died sometime since Sunday afternoon. And to top off this horrible experience, Cameron found him when she went out to feed him yesterday evening AND we just celebrated his 3rd birthday Sunday afternoon.
Dale was a registered border collie. I fell in love with him from the beginning as he was brown and white instead of the black and white that you see so often here. We also had to have him because he came from my dad’s dog, Sheba, who has been one of the most wonderful dogs I’ve ever known. She’s loved and protected Cameron since she began crawling, and so when my dad said that her puppies (3 years ago) would be her last litter as she was too old, I knew we had to have one.
We have no idea what caused it. Daddy saw no signs of a snake bite (my first guess), but h is was so furry that it would be hard to find those signs. I guess we’ll never know. (I guess we could have done DNA testing or something.
Cameron’s been really worried. We did our instant hold each other and cried a few tears, and everything was better, but all day there’s just been passing comments about him. Little things, and I know she must have talked to my dad at length as she told me all the things he said it could have been.
Unfortunately I don’t have many pictures of him either, but I know I have a couple from the first year. I’m going to search through my digital pictures to try to find a few and make Cameron a collage to frame that she can hang in her room for a few years.
Rest in Peace Dale. You’ll always be in our hearts.
Completed!
I have had this week off from bailing hay between weather, family illness, and tractor equipment failure. But it’s been a nice week because I’ve gotten a good bit done, and Cameron has finished up 2 of her summer activities which will give us time to visit family and friends now hopefully.
Today was the last day of the Summer Reading Program hosted by our public library each year and today was the last day of her swimming class. That frees up two days a week completely. I usually don’t mind, and I’m happy to have her involved in all of these activities in the summer, but since I am working this summer, I’ve hated having to completely depend on grandparents to run her around the country.
This week we also got yearly vet trips taken care of. The dogs are vaccinated and we’ve bought our yearly supply of Frontline to keep them flea free.
The house is pretty clean. The pool chemicals are bought for the summer and the pool is in great shape.
Speaking of shape, I haven’t lost any more weight.
But I am continuing at least 4 days a week in the gym and I’m able to do more on all of the machines than I was at the beginning of the month. so irregardless to me is the weight right now. At least I know I am getting healthier which was probably the #1 goal. But to help with the weight loss. I’ve just bought EA Sports Active for the Wii, and I plan to start their 30 day challenge today. Wish me luck and trying to keep up. I’ve had it a few days and hesitated starting it because I’m so tired some days and if we travel/vacation I’m not home to do the 30 days, but realistically, that’s my life all the time so I figured I might as well start today.
That’s our life right now. Busy? Of course….but still good. Keep us updated on your lives. We miss everyone.
Becka Got Her Job TOO!
Just wanted to take a minute to touch base. It’s storming here and so my Internet is coming and going, but Becka’s interview went great (apparently) as she is now employed! She texted me to let me know they hired her at the end of the interview. That will make summer even busier as we only have one vehicle but it will be worth it for her to have a job. I’m hoping it works out for the best for her. I’ll be sharing more soon about her new job. But wanted to come and share now.
Shopping with Your Kids
Most of the time I don’t mind shopping with Cameron. She doesn’t ask for much, and it’s actually fun looking at what catches her eyes. One of the most interesting places we’ve been lately is our local home improvement store. I needed to pick up some things for the house that were going wrong and it was so funny to watch Cameron. She wants her own bathroom so bad (yes, she’s all girl!) so while I’m looking for the best deals to fix all the mess going wrong lately, she’s wondering around the bathroom section building her dream bathroom.
Of course she picked a huge bathtub with jacuzi that she could pretty much swim in. Then she went down the aisle looking at all the sinks and picked out one of the totally modern sinks that don’t even look like sinks to me.
She’s now even more determined that she “needs” her own bathroom. What am I going to do? She’s only 8! Yikes!
