One of my all time favorite “Stars” from Dancing with the Stars is professional football player, Jason Taylor. I just loved his charisma. He ranks right up there for me with Emmit Smith (who was my all time fav celebrity). I’ve been behind on my news reading, but just discovered that he has left the Miami Dolphins for the Washington Redskins. Likely, his stint with DWTS was part of the reason as the Miami coaching staff didn’t act pleased about the lack of focus on football Jason had while the show was airing. I have always been a Dallas fan (through the good and bad) – my allegiance is to my home team. I’m Texan all the way.
But I’m excited about watching Jason this year so I’ll be tuning into some Washington games as well. Too bad Dallas didn’t pick him up. That would have really made my day!

Jason Taylor – More than a Dancer and Athlete
Jason, Edyta, and Mary Wong, President of The Office Depot Foundation

According to Business Wire, Jason Taylor’s performance on Dancing with the Stars profitted him in more than becoming a common household name that may lead him to the movie industry. Office Depot donated $15,000 to Taylor’s charity, the Jason Taylor Foundation which supports literacy education in South Florida. At the beginning of the season, Office Depot pledged a $1,000 per week that Jason stayed in the competition. Now that the season is over, they increased their donation to $15,000. If you are interested in this charity or making a donation, check out their website.
What’s Next for Jason Taylor?
Tonight, a champion will be named for Dancing with the Stars, and the season will be over. It will feel odd to not be anxiously awaiting the dances on Mondays and the results on Tuesday, but what will our three remaining “stars” do when the show ends tonight?
For Jason Taylor the answer may not be as obvious as you think. Taylor apparently has his eye on becoming an actor and choosing to perform on Dancing with the Stars may have given him the opening he needed. In fact, he has been working with an acting coach for the past several years. According to Mercury News, before he heads back to Miami to return to his football life, he will have already met with 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, and Universal in addition to having lunch with Denzel Washington. He’s already made appearances on Larry King Live and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In addition, Wednesday morning, he will appear on Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly.
Dolphin Fans, do not worry though. Jason says he will play at least one more year before making any moves into the movie industry. So we’ll get to watch him sack those quarterbacks for at least one more season. Will Jason Taylor follow in DeWayne “The Rock” Johnson’s footsteps from Miami defense to Hollywood? Only time will tell, but I’ll be keeping my eye out for him.
