All About Kimberly

Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

Is It Sad?

Is it sad that I usually hate commercials with a passion, but during the holiday season, I just love commercials. From the jewelry (such as the Diamond Initial Pendant) that I go..wow! how pretty to the electronics, they are all so entertaining. My favorite so far this year is Santa in Sears doing his electronic shopping – buying TV’s I believe and the reindeer don’t want to haul his purchases home but Sears assures him they have free delivery.  If you haven’t seen that one yet, you’ll have to check it out.  I can’t wait for more commercials! :-)

Family Movie Night

Our family loves movies. We watch at least one movie every week at home together as a family AND go out to the movies twice a month.  While the movies always have to be suitable for Cameron (who is 8), we take turns on who picks the movies each time.  Frequently we do these movie nights on the weekends so that the girls can invite friends over.  If we eat at home, whichever girls picks the movie, the other gets to pick the food.  Some nights we do something simple like pizza. Other nights they choose steak and potatoes or lasagna.  If we go out to the movies, popcorn and a coke are a must.  Cameron gets the child’s popcorn meal and Becka and I share a large popcorn and coke. (You get free refills on larges so we can dump refills into Cameron’s little children’s meal box as she finishes her meal.)

After watching this trailer, I’m thinking that All Roads Lead Home The Movie will be one of the movies I push the girls to watch:

This is the perfect movie for a family to watch – a movie that’s child appropriate and communicates a good message.  I had never heard of this movie until given the chance to review it for you, but now that I’ve watched this trailer and done a little research, I think it will be on our must see list.

So which ones am I looking forward to?  On the 7th, I’m wanting to make sure we watch The Parent Trap. This is one that my girls have seen the newer version, but never this one. On the 14th, we’ll be sure to watch The Son of Flubber, and on the 21st, I will be watching almost the entire time – I remember growing up and LOVING to go to my Uncle’s to watch the Disney Channel and I LOVED the Witch Mountain movies.  Bedknobs and Broomsticks also has it’s own special childhood memories, and Freaky Friday is like The Parent Trap. I want them to see the original one, the one Mommy grew up watching, at least once.  :)
Do any of these movies bring back memories for you? If so, you shoudl be sure to spend some family time watching them with your children during this holiday season.

Only One More Week

So I rarely get to lay around and watch television – especially daytime television. Well here I am, curled up in bed, loving this cool weather which means I don’t need air condition and I still need covers, and watching The View. But as I sit here and watch, I’m more excited over the commercials!! Yes!! Next week is the BIG ONE! A week I’ve been waiting for – the new Dancing with the Stars, Boston Legal, Ugly Betty, and Grey’s Anatomy will start next week! I’m a big fan of Dancing with the Stars, Ugly Betty, and Grey’s Anatomy.  And I’ve always liked the law shows so I catch Boston Legal when I have time.  We’ve had many converstations around my house on who Betty will choose and who will end up together on Grey’s Anatomy.  Now we’ll get to see.  I’m actually wishing this week off would have happened next week. :)  How sad is that?
