Just wanted to take a minute to touch base. It’s storming here and so my Internet is coming and going, but Becka’s interview went great (apparently) as she is now employed! She texted me to let me know they hired her at the end of the interview. That will make summer even busier as we only have one vehicle but it will be worth it for her to have a job. I’m hoping it works out for the best for her. I’ll be sharing more soon about her new job. But wanted to come and share now.

The Good and The Bad
Today I have good and bad news – the good.
The GOOD: I have a job reassignment. I currently teach high school English at our school – I’m the only English teacher grades 9 through 12. It is now official that next year I’ll be the business/technology teacher. I’m so excited. That’s what I went to school for – business/technology. I’m so excited to be teaching it. I have a lot to do before August, but it will be exciting to developed new curriculum and teach a new subject. I was ready for a change and now I can’t wait for summer – not so much for the vacation (but yes that too) but so I can start preparing for August. YEA!
The BAD: I can’t seem to lose any more weight. I admit to not being real dilligent with my exericse and dieting, but I’ve not been bad either. I’ve got to get more regular with my exercise. I got two new physical fitness type games for the Wii that I’m going to try out but I have to find something motivating. I’ve avoided any diet pills or natural appetite suppressants or anything like that, but it’s getting real hard to stay motivated.
Ever Thought of Freelancing?
I love experimenting with ways to make money to help this single mom out with paying for extras for my family. Some ideas have been winners, and I’ve stuck with them. Others have been a flop and I’ve only ever done them temporarily only to abandon them later. One idea I haven’t thought of though is freelance work, and after I found Freelance Nation, I’m thinking of maybe seeing what options are out there and if I would be able to find a way to make a little extra money for us.
Freelance Nation is a great site that links both businesses that can post freelance jobs and others (like me) that could use some extra money can find jobs suitable to their skills on this site. What makes it maybe stand out above the rest of freelance jobs is that they also have forums where you can get help getting started with their site. If utilized this could be a great way to find yourself around their site and learn from the experienced how to make the best use of Freelance Nation.
I noticed they have an education area which excites me, and I’ll be keeping an eye on it. They also have a category for writer/editors which I think with my background, I may qualify for. If you are looking for possible ways to find freelance workers or a freelance job, you might want to check out Freelance Nation. And if you are experienced at freelancing, I’d love to hear your opinions.
Webby Award Nomination
After multiple people I know had their identities stolen in this rural area that I live in, I began researching and some of you may remember signed up with Lifelock in order to protect myself if such an instance was to happen to me. Being a member of this service, I was proud to read today that the company has been nominated for Best Service of 2008 by the Webby Awards. The Webby Awards have been termed the “Oscars of the Internet” so knowing that a company I’m trusting with my identity protection is deemed so high in their industry is quite reassuring, don’t you think? As I was browsing their website today updating some of my personal information, I also found their job postings. I’ve been very impressed with this company, and if I lived in their area, I think they would be a great company to work for. They had openings from everything to auditors to public relations (what I think I’d like). If you aren’t protecting your identity through some proactive measures, then I highly suggest you take action soon – don’t procrastinate.
