Dancing with the Stars – Regrouping

We found out last night that in fact Misty had been injured and her and her partner were leaving the competition.  Unfortunately, due to storms in our area, my Dancing with the Stars was continously interrupted by severe weather reports by our local news so I didn’t know until tonight what was happening.  As it turns out, no one was eliminated this week.  How cool is that?  I was excited to see that as I love watching everyone dance – well almost everyone.  Because of Misty’s leaving the competition, this week’s scores and votes will be combined with next week’s scores and votes to decide who is eliminated next week. I’m anxious to see the results as I’m ready for one couple to leave (I won’t say any names though I’ll tell you it wasn’t the couple who was listed as currently being in last place).

NFL Training = Ballroom Dancing Training?

I have to admit the season that I truly began to LOVE Dancing with the Stars and started doing my best to not miss an episode was the season that Emmit Smith was on there.  I truly LOVED to watch him dance.  It made my night to watch him. It did help that I was already an Emmit fan of course since my favorite Cowboy period thus far was the Troy, Smith, Irvin period.  But I was so amazed every week at just how good Emmit was, and his enthusiasm and glowing smile….you could tell he was genuinely loving it, and so you loved to watch him.

Last season I went into the season knowing very little about Jason Taylor.  I had seen him play, yes, but really his name didn’t mean all that much to me, and I probably couldn’t have picked his face out if shown a picture of his team.  But he quickly won me over too.  It seemed like he too just got better and better, and while he didn’t have Emmit’s charisma, he still pulled me in each week, and I enjoyed his dances.

This season – Warren Sapp.  Now even though I did become an Emmit fan and slowly was won over by Jason Taylor, I still wasn’t expecting to be impressed at Warren.  I mean come on, how could this 300 pound man move the way these dances require? It truly doesn’t make sense to me, but he’s good.  He’s d$mn good, actually.  I’ve been blown away that he has been able to take on and make each of the dances so far look good.

So this got me thinking tonight, what about these NFL dancers makes them good ballroom dancers? It just doesn’t seem like it goes together to me.  Rough manly football player and polished smooth dancer?  I don’t know, but I think someone with some spare time on their hands should research this and find the correlation.

Dancing with the Stars Headlines!!

It seems Dancing with the Stars is making headlines this weekend as rumors surface of an injury coming to Misty May-Treanor this week that might make her unable to continue the competition.  If this proves to be true, all the followers are predicting what will happen.  I’ve read everything from a fellow teammate taking over for her to Kim coming back, but those fortune tellers are not stopping there, they are also predicting who will be the replacement’s partner.

I’m not sure what will prove to be true.  It seems that my normal sources of information all of conflicting reviews, but I can guarantee we’ll be glued to the television screen tomorrow to see what happens.

Dancing with the Redskins

One of my all time favorite “Stars” from Dancing with the Stars is professional football player, Jason Taylor.  I just loved his charisma.  He ranks right up there for me with Emmit Smith (who was my all time fav celebrity).  I’ve been behind on my news reading, but just discovered that he has left the Miami Dolphins for the Washington Redskins.  Likely, his stint with DWTS was part of the reason as the Miami coaching staff didn’t act pleased about the lack of focus on football Jason had while the show was airing.  I have always been a Dallas fan (through the good and bad) – my allegiance is to my home team. I’m Texan all the way.  :) But I’m excited about watching Jason this year so I’ll be tuning into some Washington games as well.  Too bad Dallas didn’t pick him up. That would have really made my day!

DWTS Julianne Hough Stepping Out

Dancing with the Stars, Julianne Hough is branching out away from dancing and into the music industry. Or so it would appear, but in fact it’s the opposite. Her first love has always been music. According to the Associated Press, the Dancing with the Stars pro has been singing with her family since she was 4 years old. Their family, all being blonde, were known as “White Lightning.”  Hough reports that her musical icons are Faith Hill, Martina McBride, and Shania Twain.

Hough’s first CD debuted Tuesday and the songs I’ve been able to hear sound like she may have herself a career in the country music industry.  The CD is called “Julianna Hough,” and if you’d like to hear some of the songs check out her website (www.juliannehough.com) or Amazon has a few songs available too. Want to hear her live? According to her webiste, she will be performing on Good Morning America today.
