!!!FREE!!! Admission to Disney!!

Have you heard the news?  If not, listen up.  During 2009, everyone can get into Walt Disney World or Disneyland for FREE on their birthday.  Yes, for free!!!  If you show up at Walt Disney World or at Disneyland with proof that your birthday is on that actual day during 2009, you will receive a free one day admission ticket.  You can register online or you can can just go to guest relations when you arrive at the park.  If you register ahead of time, apparently you’ll get in much faster, but it’s not required.

Going to be in Disney on your birthday (or your child’s) but already have tickets?  Guess what!  You can still have an awesome day in the park.  Instead of park admission, you can receive:

  • A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use on your birthday for merchandise, recreation or fun activities at select participating locations at Walt Disney World Resort; or
  • A special birthday FASTPASS® badge+ for certain attractions at the Theme Park you visit on your birthday;
  • or A 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday.

If my estimations are correct, that birthday card would be loaded with about $75!  How fun would it be to have that much money to spend on your birthday.  I’m so upset that they are doing this next year (when I won’t be at Disney, but didn’t do it this year (when we spent Cameron’s birthday at Disney World).

I hope some of you can take advantage of this awesome deal!!

Disney World Moms – Hurry, Hurry, Hurry!!

Time is running out.  Entries are now being accepted to be on the 2009 Walt Disney World Moms Panel.  While you still have a while if you go by the date deadline (September 19th), you should know that Disney is limiting their entries to 20,000.  As soon as that 20,000th entry is received, they will not accept anymore!!

Being on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel would be one of the biggest honors that I can think of receiving.  I’ve submitted my application and will be anxiously awaiting – hoping to hear from them and make the cut into even the first round of finals.

Think you know much about Disney? Would you be able to help other mom’s plan their vacations? If so, head over to the link above and fill out the very easy three question form.  Be sure to think about your answers and proofread carefully.  Good luck to all! If I don’t win, I’m pulling for you….  :)

We’re In Houston!!

We arrived in Houston today around 2:30 to the best news. My friend that I always come visit and that we’re staying with tonight is getting married this weekend!!  It’s so exciting. I’m so happy for her.  And of course we are also excited that we are in HOUSTON!!  We fly out at 6:30 in the morning, and we’re an hour from the airport so I don’t want to even think about yet what time we need to get up, but it’s going to be EARLY!  We ran to the mall this afternoon to find a wedding dress (and we realized when we went to pack that Cameron didn’t own a pair of athletic shoes that fit except her cleats so she has a new pair of shoes).

I gave the girls a goody bag after we got underway today with 3 Disney books (Hidden Mickey, Trivia, and Treasure Hunts – all shown on my Library page), some pins for trading, a Disney pedometer for Becka, a Disney coloring book for Cameron. They read the books the entire 3 1/2 hours here. I was so excited.

THE SINGLE DIGITS

Yep…nine more days and I’ll be in Disney World…acutally at about this time we’ll be landing in Orlando.  I can’t wait!!!  We are still working on the crafts as much as possible.  Last night we started the prep work for the tie dyed shirts so I’ll be sure to post about that when we finish, but until then hope you like the other pics I’m posting.

Single digits.  Yea!! I can’t wait for my sleepy headed girls to wake up so I can tell them!!  This is worth celebrating. I have them Disney gifts…i wonder if I should give them today or wait until we leave (that was the original plan, but this seems like an event worth celebrating!) Oh well, they’ll sleep for at least another hour so I have time to decide.

Sad Disney News

I’m usually happy to pass on Disney news to you guys, but today I’m really sad to report this news that I just found.  According to a recent press release from Disney, our favorite night time show, Fantasmic, will soon be going to only two nights a week (Mondays and Thursdays)!  This is really sad at our house. Like I said, Fantasmic is our favorite show and we have a tradition to always watch it our first night with a Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic Dining Package and then we catch it AT LEAST one more time through regular views. In December, we saw it with the H&V Package, tried the Mama Melrose dining package, and once as general admission!  For our upcoming trip we have reservations at H&V our first night (as tradition dictates), and Cameron plans on us watching Fantasmic the night of her birthday (as she gets to make the plans that day).  And if there are any other evenings that we aren’t happy where we are, we’ll head over to Hollywood Studio and watch it again.  It seems we never get tired of this show – no matter how many times we see it.

Why is this being done? According to a few Disney forums I read, primarily it seems to make room for a new show, American Idol (gag me!!). On a few message boards, I’ve seen it mentioned that it costs $30,000 for each performance of Fantasmic so that has something to do with it also, but Disney hasn’t said that.  On that subject, my theory is that every time I go, they have increased their rates so while that seems like a lot to me, they are continually getting more of my money, and I’d rather it be going towards Fantasmic than American Idol!

Here’s a copy of the news release that is out (please note though that I couldn’t find it on the actual Disney site anywhere):

Walt Disney World Resort Announcment
July 19, 2008

We are continually focused on providing the best possible experiences for our Guests who visit the Walt Disney World® Resort. Within the last six months, we have added significant new attractions and shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™, including Block Party Bash, Toy Story Midway Mania!, Pixar Place and Journey Into Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Coming in October 2008 will be the recently announced “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” and later this year, Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ will host the annual Night of Joy event for the first time and welcome back ABC Super Soap Weekend. At the same time, we have continued to update existing offerings such as Playhouse Disney—Live On Stage!

Next year, the park will unveil The American Idol Experience, host the first Grad Nite events at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ and welcome back ESPN: The Weekend and Star Wars Weekends.

We regularly evaluate and refine our operations. At the same time we unveil The American Idol Experience in January 2009, we will make an adjustment to our operation by offering Fantasmic! on select evenings each week. Fantasmic! will be performed two times weekly –generally Mondays and Thursdays – and more often during our busiest times of the year.

On nights when Fantasmic! is not performed, Guests (with appropriate ticket media) will continue to have the opportunity to enjoy nightly fireworks spectaculars such as Wishes at the Magic Kingdom® Park and IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot®.
