All About Kimberly

Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

Is It Sad?

Is it sad that I usually hate commercials with a passion, but during the holiday season, I just love commercials. From the jewelry (such as the Diamond Initial Pendant) that I go..wow! how pretty to the electronics, they are all so entertaining. My favorite so far this year is Santa in Sears doing his electronic shopping – buying TV’s I believe and the reindeer don’t want to haul his purchases home but Sears assures him they have free delivery.  If you haven’t seen that one yet, you’ll have to check it out.  I can’t wait for more commercials! :-)

The “Other” Favorites

Since I shared a video of Cameron with her favorites I thought I’d share mine and Becka’s favorite too.  Becka’s not here right now, but I feel comfortable with saying that her favorite gift was her new laptop (THANK YOU SANTA!).  In fact she was so excited that her desktop was donated by the end of the day yesterday (and I threw her desk out the front door to be hauled away by my dad).

And while I got several nice gifts, my favorite is easy to pick.  It brought tears to my eyes.  This was from my mom and dad:

flag

Yes. It’s a flag, but even better, it came with this:

certificate

If you can’t read it, it says:

On behalf of a grateful district, state, and nation, this flag was flown over the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. on May 30, 2007 is hereby presented to

Kimberly

To commemorate the date her brother, Tommie, began serving his country in the United States Armed Forces.

Yes…this is easily my favorite and will be in a display case proudly out for show in my house soon.

Check Out Cam!!

She has never rode a bicycle or any of the Power Wheels vehicles (not because I didn’t buy – I did, but because she wasn’t interested), but my dad got it in his head to buy her a PINK 4 Wheeler.  I was worried she might not like it, but check her out.  I think it’s quickly becoming  a part of life.  Today when she needed another battery for a toy and I was out, she quickly replied, “Can I drive down to Mamaw’s and get one?”  :)

From Our Family To Yours

christmaspost

This will be the only post for today. We will be offline and spending the time with as little technology as possible – not much online activity, off the phone (even texting)…today will be spent with each other and our many families. I hope that you and your family have a blessed Christmas.  Posts may be fewer over the next few days as we play with our new toys that Santa and family bring us.  Merry Christmas all!

And Another Thank You To….

ornament

Deb of Mom of 3 Girls. We both participated in an ornament exchange and were each other’s partners. I was so psyched when I received my ornaments. There was a set of 3 snowflakes. Being from east Texas, we rarely see snow (predicted to be 70 tomorrow…Friday our LOW is 62!), it was such a special touch to add to our tree, but that’s not all – they also blended so well with my tree. They are perfect. My tree is blue and silver and the clear glass-looking snowflakes look like they belong there. Today Cameron was standing around admiring the tree and commented again at how pretty this set of ornaments are…I’ve included a picture so you can see that I’m right and these were a beautiful set of ornaments that will be treasured on my tree for many years to come.
