Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

I Keep Reading About This

I keep reading about this company as I browse blogs so I had to go check it out.  The company is C’elle, and I’ve become just a touch curious.  The first couple times I read about this I just thought “gross,” but today I actually clicked through to check it out and read a little more details than the other blogs were revealing.  I’m not sure I’m ready to go through with it or anything, but I do find the concept sort of intriguing.

The company sends women kits for collecting their menstrual fluids that are normally just discarded. After they are collected you send them in to be preserved.  It seems that the stem cells in women’s fluids can be stored for a lifetime and possibly used for a variety of cosmetic and life saving remedies later in life for both the woman and her family. It is all still in the research phases though. So you aren’t really guaranteed these possible health benefits – yet. But according to the site, they seem pretty certain that these will be useful in the future.

I kept looking becuase I’m not so sure I understand the process, but the potential benefits do sound impressive.  I also checked out the pricing page to just feel more informed, and they even have gifting options.  It just keeps getting more interesting.  If you click the order now page, you find out that they will ship you this kit by Fed Ex for the instructions and supplies needed to collect the cells and you then mail everything back.

Have you heard of this? Do you know any more than what I found out? I’d love to hear and understand this a little more.

Still On My Mind

I started reading about C’elle a few weeks ago when I saw it mentioned on another blogger’s site.  I at first just went “Eew! Gross!,” but since then I’ve read about it on a few more occasions and even earlier today noticed it on a fellow blogger’s site that I regularly visit.  It some ways I wonder if it’s fate that continues to throw it back in my face – not letting me just write it off. And then what do I do, but open my email and see that I have the chance to share some information about C’elle’s reserach with you.

Like I said, my first reaction was that of being grossed out, but after seeing it around the web a few more times and seeing the benefits and reading C’elle Client Testimonials, I’ve really started giving it more and more serious consideration. One of my favorite aunts recently passed away, and she had Alzheimer’s the last few years of her life. I can remember as a child how much I loved going to Aunt Jimmie’s house. She was my grandmother’s sister, but she always seemed so much younger and “cooler” than my grandmother did.  Trips to see her were full of fun activities and crazy antics. Then when she had to come move in with my grandmother during the later phases of Alzheimer’s, I almost couldn’t stand to be around her. It made me so sad to see what this disease had done to her. After reading the About the Science page on the C’elle website, and seeing how it could one day prevent myself or a close family member from facing this horrible situation in their later years that my Aunt Jimmie did, I’m almost completely sold on the idea.

If you are considering this process (or even the least bit interested), now would be a good time to check them out as they are running a “Caring is Sharing” promotion where you will receive a free kit for a family member or friend when you purchase one. If you choose to place an order, you’ll receive the items below: by FedEx: a menstrual cup, collection tubes, prepaid FedEx airbill for return shipment to Cryo-Cell, and comprehensive instructions for use.
