Many in the entertainment industry are predicting that Disney is priming Selena Gomez to be their next big teen sensation (following in Miley Cyrus’s footsteps). E!Online has recently released an article about the time that Selena was spending with the Jonas Brothers citing that they were seen together at a basketball game in Los Angeles. Since Miley reportedly dated (and did spend much time with them due to touring together) one of the members of the Jonas Brothers, Nick, this makes the idea that Disney is in fact priming Selena to be their next sensation plausible.
With all the controversy surrounding Miley and her Vanity Fair photographs, Selena’s mom states that they are ready for the constant eye of the fans and media and that Selena is well grounded (seems I remember reading similar quotes in a People magazine by Miley’s parents not too long ago). According to The National Ledger, Selena still has a curfew of before midnight, must help the family with chores such as laundry, dishes, and feeding the pets, and she does not go to movie premiers without a parent. I think it’s great that Disney has made efforts to have such clean stars for our daughter’s to admire (in both Cyrus and now Gomez), but how difficult is it now for these young teens to keep a level head? And even their parents must have a hard time after the money really starts to roll in? For Gomez’s sake, I hope her mom does keep these boundaries and does not let her go wild. I’ve also been a Miley fan from the beginning, and I hope the hype dies down soon, and we continue to read positive news concerning her again.

I must be really out of touch because I have never heard of her. I think sometimes it is inevitable that they all go down the innocent teenager turn proactive seductress.

Which show is she on? I haven’t heard of her as well but it might just be that I don’t know her name but do know her.

The first place I saw Selena was as a guest on Hannah Montana where she played Hannah’s competition, Mikayla. She now stars on her own show, The Wizards of Waverly Place. She also did a new version of the song Cruella deVille for the new release of 101 Dalmations. It was a really interesting version. In fact I have it as one of my ringtones. I didn’t buy it, but I would bet the video to the song would be on the DVD.

Oh was that the episode where you could win a chance to sing with Hannah and they thought she was a really bad singer but was in fact a good one? I think I know “who” she is just not what her real name is.

Nope wrong girl. I can’t remember seeing the episode you described Kimberly. Guess I better check netflix.

Um. She was on a few episodes. There was one where we realize they are “enemies” where they are on a talk show with a Larry King type host. And then the last one I can remember is where her on and off again boyfriend Jake announces that “Mikayla” will be his newest costar in some type of teen romance movie he is filming.
