Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

Seems to Have Worked

Well it appears that my last post worked just fine so I’m guessing that Google Chrome and WordPress 2.6 are friends.  My friend that was reporting the problems was using an older version on a blog that she doesn’t have the rights to upgrade so I’m guessing there may be some issues with older versions of WordPress and Chrome, but mine is working fine so far. One of the other things I haven’t tested yet is my Sunshine Rewards offers to see if they will credit when using Chrome.  That’s on my list of things to still test out.

My initial review:

  • Fast, fast, fast.  I’m a Firefox user but it seems like pages are loading much faster in Chrome. The first thing I noticed was this actual blog.  There was no hesitation.
  • Mostly compatible. I’ve gone through several sites and so far I’ve been able to completely function.  So far I haven’t found anything I can’t do.
  • Userface is AWESOME!  I love the interface and look forward to becoming more adept at it.
  • It’ll let me login to my school email!!  This may not seem like a big deal, but FireFox won’t let me and I’ve had to open IE to open it in the past.
  • No pluins/extensions – I need Alexa and Stumble Upon Toolbars and such.  I’m missing those adds ons that I have with FireFox (Hopefully they will come soon).
  • Not auto spell checking, I don’t think.  Usually in Firefox, when I misspell a word as I type these posts, it gets a pretty red underline, but I’m not seeing it here, and there’s one word at least in this post, I’m pretty sure is misspelled, and I’d really like to right click and correct it!!

Overall so far, I’m really liking this browser.  I know many are worried about Google taking over the world or something, but I have never really worried about this.  When everyone was on Microsoft’s case, I thought that was ridiculos and I am keeping the same ideas here.  If Google (or any other company) can make products that are superior or make more people happy, they deserve the rewards.  That’s the whole system of free enterprise right?

On another note, I have Ike damage – stay tuned for pictures and a post about that as time allows.  My grandmother just called and we have electricity at our house. When we talked to her, she was experimenting with some plastic engraving machines she had read about somewhere and then purchased. (She tends to buy those odd things that no one has ever heard of).  So we are now packing up all of our stuff and heading home.  I’m not sure if I’ll have Internet at home but if I do, I’ll be back online tonight to report in about my house and tell you about my damage.  :(

Thanks for the review. I just heard about chrome and am not sure if I want to give it a try or not. I just transferred over to using Firefox full time. lol

So far Catherine I’ve really liked it. I’ve only run into a couple of little things that bother me (and I figure those things will be worked out as it moves from beta to an officially released versions).
