Review & Giveaway: CartStopper

Have you ever been shopping and head out to load all of your stuff in the car only to turn your back and find that your buggy has rolled off – with your items, your purse, or worse yet, your child?  It’s simple – us moms just don’t have enough hands for all the tasks we need. So why didn’t one of us come up with this great idea?  I’m not sure, but it truly is one of those ideas that are so simple, I can’t beleiver we’ve gone so long without them – The CartStopper!

What is a CartStopper? CartStopper is a plunger type device that you attach to your buggy and your car while you unload groceries (or whatever you bought) and your little one (and don’t forget your purse). See below:

How does the CartStopper work? Like I mentioned, it’s actually so simple, it’s sad that we’ve gone without it for so many years.  The plunger/suction cup end sticks to your car.  The other end goes through the metal wire of your cart and then turns to lock in place. And VIOLA!  No more runaway carts.  (See it in action below)

Thanks to the generous people at CartStopper I was sent one to try out.  I was a little nervous (I admit). I mean it sounded good in theory, but how would it work? And what was I supposed to do? Carry this around in my purse? I don’t carry a diaper bag now that my youngest is 8.  Boy was I happy when it came in and was really not nearly as large as I feared. It easily rides in the console area of my car between the seats and slides into my purse while I’m in the store shopping.

I decided to give the  a whirl while I was out Black Friday shopping.  After all, this was when my buggy was full, I was keeping up with Cameron in a crowded parking lot full of crazy drivers, and didn’t have time to be messing around chasing a buggy across a parking lot.  And yes, it worked just as described.  No problems whatsoever. In fact Cameron was so fascinated with it that she learned to use it and would attach it to the car and buggy at each store (which kept her close to the car too so Mom was happy).

Are you a mom trying to take care of a million things in the parking lot? Would you like to own your own CartStopper?  Well, not only were the people at CartStopper generous enough to donate one of their items for me to review, but they are also willing to give one away to one lucky All About Kimberly reader.  If you’d like a CartStopper (or maybe it would make a great gift for someone you know), then enter the contest below by following the directions. The directions are simple, but only entries that are complete will be considered.

  • Stop by CartStopper before midnight, December 10, 2008.
  • Come back here and mention in comments something on the website that caught your attention that is NOT MENTIONED IN THIS REVIEW.

I like that it says “CARTSTOPPER will hold securely when pressed firmly onto a clean, flat surface of your vehicle, even in the rain!”-not a concern for you, but I presume that means it would work in ice/snow.

That is the COOLEST THING EVER!!! Wow, I soooo need this. I love how she told her story of how the idea was born. Her kids look about the same age as mine. I have two very close in age and neither walks yet so I have to put one in at a time and it’s hard not to turn my head for a moment to put one in.

I learned that you can even attach it to your tail light. I get nervous putting things on my car, but it would be perfect to attach it to the light!
