Every time I go to the post office to check my mail, more mail goes in the garbage than I bring back to my car. Why? Because almost everything in the box is JUNK – advertisements, credit card offers, letters to join in all kinds of pymarid schemes, you name it. Over the years I guess I’ve gotten over the frustration as I just immediately walk from my box to the trash and sort through my mail.
Of course, the madness doesn’t end there. It also plagues our email inboxes. I’m not even sure I can tell you what types of emails I get in massive amounts every day without blushing from embarrasment. It seems that the senders of junk email (also called spam)do not realize that I (ahem!) lack a certain male anatomy and therefore mine doesn’t need enlarged. (And that’s just the beginning of it) I can remember when this really frustrated, and I would groan and complain every time I opened my email, but overtime I’ve also become immune to it. I’ve downloaded a program that works with Outlook and sends all JUNKmail to a special folder. I’ve trained it to catch the majority of these so I rarely feel the need to complain much about this.
Now I’ve been introduced to a new set of JUNK – my blog comments. After a very busy week where I’ve barely even been able to touch my computer, I log in, and I can’t believe it! 15 comments!!! WOW! People have really found my blog and must like what they found if they are leaving comments, right? I immediately click to read and approve them to show up on my blog…..but what do I find? ALL 15 are SPAM!!! Yes, I am annoyed. Will I eventually get used to it just as I have snail mail and email? Probably so, but for now, I am not. Now I am officialy aggravated.
Bloggers out there, how do you deal with this? Does it also get your hopes up only to dash them quickly? If anyone knows ways to decrease the amount of spam comments on our blogs, I’d love to know. And if any of you out there happen to be part of the blogging spammer world – SHAME ON YOU!! (And as a heads up, you’re not helping yourself at all…comments here are moderated, and I will not be approving your JUNK!) ![]()

Oh I am so with you. I have been so excited 2 times this week only to find 5 spam comments each day. So frustrating! I don’t think there is a way to get rid of them either.

I’m having a problem with this as well. It is disappointing to find the spam comments when you thought someone had found meaning in something you wrote. Not sure there is a solution.
