A Horrible Situation

I *itch and complain about my health insurance throughout the year. I complain about how much it costs each month and how little we use it, and then when we do, I complain about how much it costs after I pay that premium each month. Yep…I am not a fan of insurance, but in the end I’m so thankful that I do in fact have it. After reading about Holly who has breast cancer no insurance, I’m really thinking I need to appreciate what I have even more.

See Holly doesn’t have insurance and you can just imagine how expensive the medical bills are when you have breast cancer.  A website has been set up to help her out with these expenses called HollyFund, and if you aren’t comfortable giving directly to this fund for just Holly, you can donate to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  Basically this is a group to help those like Holly who do not have insurance when they are diagnosed with breast cancer and then can’t get insurance because of this preexisting condition. After reading Holly’s story, I am so gld that organizations are out there like the National Breast Cancer Foundation as they do help as much as possible.

I really hope that our leaders here about Holly (and the many like her) and continue searching for a way to help out our country’s insurance crisis – Yes – crisis! Medical bills and insurance are simply too expensive, and in the current economy, I fear there will be more and more like Holly that simply can’t afford insurance and then end up in a situation like she did.
