Two All Beef Patties, Special Sauce, Lettuce, Cheese, Pickles, Onions on a Sesame Seed Bun.
Do you know this song? I remember being so fascinated by it growing up. And I was so proud when I could sing those words from memory. But I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited as Don Gorske. I saw this on my local news this morning:
Don Gorske has consumed 23,000 Big Macs!! Yes, that the correct number of 0′s. His obsession with Big Macs began in 1972 (before I was even born). This is an approximate average of 1.75 Big Macs a day. Now, I’ve never been one of those mom’s that begged their children to not eat at McDonald’s. Or was even upset if that’s where Cameron said she’d like to eat. I like McDonald’s ok. But I can’t imagine having an average of almost 2 Big Macs a day!! WOW!!!
Don’s story is actually even more intriguing. Not only has he eaten 23,000 Big Mac in the last 30ish years, he’s also saved EVERY receipt. I didn’t even realize we got receipts at McDonald’s. That tells you how much attention I pay and how quickly they must go in the trash, but Mr. Gorske has saved 23,000 burgers worth of receipts. I can’t even find receipts of recently purchased items that fail to fit or work and I want to return the item.
According to my local station, Mr. Gorske has truly had at least the one burger every day since that first day in 1972 with only one exception, that’s it….in over 11,000 days, he’s only skipped one!
The next time your little one begs to go to McDonald’s, just take them. Be happy that their not asking to go every day like Don.
