Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

I Have INTERNET!

After almost two weeks of an outage and months of crappy service, I received a new modem from HughesNet today and everything seems to be working the way it’s supposed to!  Can you say WOOHOOO!!!!  I have written at least 13 or 14 posts and scheduled them for some of my other blogs tonight.  And now I prepare to do some online shopping before bed!  It is time to Christmas shop!

What a Way to Start

Happy Wednesday! Today I started my day by going out in the rain to take our patio table and one of the chairs out of the pool! Yes. You know it’s going to be a great day when it starts by being cold and wet (after your shower)! J But I refuse to let it damper my mood much because tomorrow night I will be in FLORIDA! Yes, you heard me right. Tomorrow night I will put my head down less than 2 miles from the happiest place on Earth! And that makes me super happy! Hoping today and tomorrow go by quickly.

Happy November!

Woohoo! It’s 60 degrees at the end of the day. I like it! We are finally getting some cool weather. We’ve had one cool spell though and then it warmed up again so here’s hoping this one sticks around. The only problem is that I’m going to Florida this weekend and was hoping for warm weather by the pool. Oh well. Guess you can’t have it every way. :-)

Teacher Randomness

After almost 10 years of teaching, I have found that students sometimes ask the most random questions. As long as they are not disrupting class, I have always found the easiest thing to do is just answer the question because then most students get back on track. Now sometimes I answer it with a random answer that isn’t necessarily true just to see if they are paying attention.  I’ve been asked everything from random questions about something they are learning in a different class, things about television shows or music, should I color my hair, pierce my ear/nose/tongue, how to get rid of acne, you name it – the most random questions. Tip: Do not ever let the question (and answer if you answer it) turn into a discussion. This is when it becomes a distraction to other students and that student is now officially off task.

Just Another Manic Monday?

What a day.  I usually get up at 5:30.  Cameron woke me up this morning at 7:07!  YIKES! I’m supposed to be at work at 7:30 and live 15 minutes from school so that was NOT GOOD!  This meant no breakfast and no lunch packed even though I was starving at lunch.  *sigh*  We made it through the day though to get home and I realize that I didn’t lay out anything for dinner – frozen pizzas it was.  *double sigh* Hoping Tuesday goes better.
