Think Thin Reminder

Just wanted to take a minute to comment that I am still on the healthier Kimberly plan and hope to be back to participating with Bridgette at Think Thin Thursdays as soon as I’m back to being able to post regularly, but Bridgette, I did want to report in that I’m still drinking my 4 bottles of water a day and no more than 1 can of Cherry Coke and glass of tea.   I’ve also started taking a multi-vitamin as I want to be sure as I make the food changes that I’m making that I do get the nutrients I need.

For my diet, I’m eating either a bowl of Special K or a Slim Fast chocolate milk each morning. For lunch each day, I have another bowl of Special K and a piece of fruit. And then I have whatever the family is having for supper, but I am paying more attention to serving sizes.  I am planning to add weight to the goals when I can get back to actively participating.  My big time goal is to lose weight, firm up, and become healthier overall without the use of anything like Decaslim. I plan to make this a year long goal so that I can be happy with small progresses and don’t feel the need to turn to much in the traditional diet methods.

A New Year of Think Thin Thursdays

With all of my Internet connection woes, my new years posts that I’ve been thinking about and drafting are maybe not even going to be posted, but I wanted to take a moment to blog about a wonderful weekly blogging opportunity if one of your New Year goals (I like that better than resolutions that are tossed aside so quickly) is to  lose weight, get fit or lead a more healthy lifestyle.  I’m hoping to do a little of each of those so I’ll be happily participating in Think Thin Thursdays over at The Not-So-Blog Blog.

So what are my my New Year’s Resolutions?  I haven’t really sat down and thought yet (sad, I know)…but I can tell you off hand that I want to do the following three goals (I read somewhere that you’ll never accomplish your list if you let it get too long so we shall see):

  1. lose weight, get fit or lead a more healthy lifestyle (hopefully by increasing the amount of healthy cooking and decreasing the precooked and fast food meals for myself and my family
  2. Get in a better financial situation than I was on January 1st
  3. I have 3 fairly large blogging ideas.  I hope to accomplish at least 2 of those this year.

Good luck to everyone and if you haven’t already, go sign up and join in the fun at Think Thin Thursdays….you know we all need to at least do one of the Thursday goals.

My Think Thin Goals for the first week of January 2009 -

  1. 3 bottles of water a day (I’ve been slacking the last two weeks)
  2. 3 days of at least 30 minutes of exercise

I’ll be back next Thursday (or whenever I have Internet) to let you know how it goes. Thanks Bridgette for the help in accomplishing my goals.

Think Thursday Week 5

Yes..I know it’s Saturday and I’m behind, but I honestly haven’t even turned on the computer at home lately – that’s how busy life has been. I”m not sure if Bridgette has closed this week’s post and drawn for prizes, but I still wanted to do my weekly post.

I’ve completed this week’s objectives successfully.  Next week, my goal is one soda a day maximum and 4 bottles of water a day.  This will be a crazy week with school so I’m going to set the goal of 3 45 minute sessions of exercise. I think I can do it, but with life crazy it will take discipline…..

I have started running into some difficulties with this cold weather though – why? Because cold weather in my family means morning hot cocoa.  Yes…I have a hot cocoa maker and we make hot cocoa each morning to drink on our way to school.  I refuse to give up this pleasure, but have been looking for ways to make it better.  My first and most successful item maybe is that I have not squirted any whip cream on the top of my hot cocoa – not once!  I still give the girls their topping, but I pass on my mug.  Second, I’m buying 1% milk for the hot cocoa in hopes of making it a little healthier for all of us.

Curious about Think Thin Thursday?  Think Thin Thursday is a group of bloggers who are working together to make ourselves make wiser choices concerning our eating and exercise.  The group is hosted by Bridgette at The Not So Blog Blog……and as we meet our goals, Bridgette has found sponsors to award prizes to one lucky particpant each week.  Think you’d like to join? Think Thin Thursday Reporting Time – Week 4!

Yea….I’m happy to report that I actually have gotten to where I’m drinking about twice as much water as my goal each week and only one soda. The physical activity has continued. I felt myself wavering so we picked up a new game for the Wii – Wii Ski and a new exercise DVD, Walking Away The Pounds…While I don’t think I’m really feeling any weight loss yet, I’m not getting discouraged as my first goal was health – not weight. However, I’m going to start this week by officially announcing my weight changes from week to week. It won’t be part of the goal (yet), but I will track my progress. I’ll do the first official weigh in tonight and post it back here.

This week I’m going to up the ante on my goals though. I want to exercise for at least 45 minutes FOUR days in the next week. This is going to be a challenge as we are so busy, but I’m going to do my best and I’m going to drink THREE bottles/glasses of water, and I’m not going to drink more than a 1 1/2 cans of coke.

I actually found this last week easier than normal even though it was Thanksgiving. Why? I think because I was actually home so much and not at work. This made exercising extremely easy, and it was easy to just grab bottles of water out of the refrigerator.

Think Thin Thursday….LATE

The Not-So-Blog

Yep…I’m late with the holidays, but wanted to be sure and come and post about Think Thin Thursday. I’m so excited that I’m sticking with my goals. I think starting next week I’ll start watching and posting my weight progress (or lack there of) without the help of any diet pills – no alli for me. This is all going to be the health way. Last week I actually won the prize for the Think Thin Thursday so that was REALLY motivating this week and I not only met my goal of less soda, more water, and more exercise, but exceeded it!! Yea!!!  I’m going to up my goals this week to the same 3 days of exercise, but 45 minutes until of 30.  And I’m also going to up my water goals to 2 1/2 bottles/glasses and only 1 1/2 cans of Cherry Coke.

This week’s Think Thin topic is the Hungry Girl website. My favorite part of the site is the Chew the Right Thing section where you are instructed what to “bite” and what to “fight.” How nifty.  I ended up reading about 5 different articles the first time I browsed the site – my favorite being one about daquiri’s.  :)
