Think Thin Thursday on Friday

Yes, I know I’m a day late on my Think Thin post, but I wanted to be sure to get back in the habit before I start letting my habits slip like my weekly posts have.  I was relieved when I went to check in with Bridgette to find that she had not been posting (so maybe i wasn’t missed?).  I have been working hard at watching the diet, drinking the water, and only 3 days of exercise still, but I’m sticking with those 3 days.  My life will take a big notch down next week so I plan to try to pick up the exercise goals after this week.  I’ve been think of buying a treadmill so that I can put a little more variety in my exercise, but I’m not sure since it’s getting warmer and I’ll be able to walk outside soon. So to sum up my progress lately – I’m sticking to the plan, not a lot, nothing great, but I’m staying on track with plans to pick up the pace after one mroe week.

Think Thin Thursday – February 12th

The Not-So-Blog

It’s that time again – THINK THIN THURSDAY….time to report in on our goals of becoming healthier (and hopefully thinner in the process). This has been a pretty discouraging week for me.  I’ve stuck to eating Special K twice a day, had 3 to 4 bottles of water a day, and did 3 days of physical activity, but I’ve watched the WiiFit slide up a little each check in.  Now I realize that it’s measuring to a tenth of a pound so the increases are not that big of a deal, but they are still discouraging.  So to keep me from the horrible fate of any type of diet pill such as the latest one I’ve heard about called Solo Slim, I’m going to up the ante this week.  This week I’m committing to FOUR days of exercise.  I also read that starting your day with a banana or two for breakfast could help you speed up your metabolism in the mornings so I’m modifying my morning breakfast of Special K to 2 bananas, and I’ll only do Special K for one meal a day.  Hopefully I’ll have better news to report next week with these two commitment.s

Think Thin Thursday Time

The Not-So-Blog

Gosh.  I can’t believe it’s already Thursday again and that means it’s Think Thin Thursday time.  I’ve had a pretty good weak.  Slow but steady.  I’ve done what I had to do – my minimum goals: 3 30 minute WiiFit sessions and drinking my water each day.  I’ve stuck to my 2 meals a day of Special K.  But I’ve not done any extra.  I’ve just barely scraped by.  I’m so glad that Bridgette at The Not So Blog Blog is running this weekly check in.  As busy is life is, I would have not gotten in my 3 sessions if it wasn’t for knowing I was going to be reporting in this week.

So Bridgette wanted an inspiring story this week and I don’t really think meeting my minimum criteria is all that inspiring, but I was hoping that by telling you how much you are motivating me at staying to my minimum goals.  If it wasn’t for you and Think Thin Thursdays then I wouldn’t be on track at all.  I would be letting life get in the way.  So Bridgette I’m hanging in with you…you’ll be fine…you’ll get back on track.  You’re encouraging me and I hope that knowing the influence you have on me and my committment will guide you back into your healthy habits.

Low Calorie Snacks – I love the Special K granola bars.  They are really good.  I usually have one about 10 in the morning to hold me over until lunch.

Think Thin Thursday

The Not-So-Blog

I’m going to try approaching Think Thin Thursday a little different…I’m going to actually write this post for a week..contributing to it most days, but hold it and not post it until Thursday morning. Throughout the week though I’m going to post my progress or lack thereof in my exercise/diet/water routine.

Sunday, January 25, 2009

As of today, I’ve worked out Thursday night, Friday morning and today for at least 30 minutes on the Wii Fit (That’s acutally my weekly goal – YEA!). I got some added inspiration today to continue my WiiFit workouts from Julie at The Cool Mom Guide. Check out her story here of how she lost 60 points thanks to her WiiFit.  There’s actually a group called WiiFit Mommies that work together and support each other’s weight loss using the Wii Fit. There are even hosting a giveaway this week that I’m going to try to participate in if time allows with the hectic week I have planned.  Inspired by reading all about Julie and some of the others over at WiiFit Mommies, I made sure to get in my workout today before heading out to shop and stopping by my classroom to do a little prep work for the week.  I have to admit to being pretty happy too because since last Thursday, both my weight and BMI have dropped (though my WiiFit age has gone up…damn!).  But since Friday morning when I worked out, I’ve lost 1.1 pounds (down to 176.4) and my BMI dropped to 26.73 (0nly .017, but I’m happy with any and all decreases).  My stupid age went up from 39 to 43.  My trainer told me today that my ideal weight is 145 with a BMI of 22 so I’m setting that as my year’s goal. By December 31, I would like to be this “ideal” weight.  Everyone stick with me and keep me going all year (PLEASE!). I’ve thought about it today and realized that I find it much easier to drink my water when I do my 30 minutes of exercise. Within the 30 minutes of WiiFit exercising, I drink a bottle and a half (that’s half my daily goal). Ok, with my exercising done and reporting in complete for the day, I’m off to run some errands.  I am hoping to wake up at the first buzzer in the morning and do 30 minutes more on my Wii Fit.

Monday, January 26

Well as my WiiFit trainer pointed out to me so nicely, it is technically Tuesday already but I don’t care. I’m counting it as Monday because I haven’t been to bed yet and I can make my own rules.  So there!  :P  Today so more improvements.  I am sick today.  I feel like total and complete crap and almost talked myself out of doing my WiiFit today, but then as I was browsing my friend Catherine‘s blog, she was talking about doing her WiiFit every day and I just felt motivated.  So, I decided to do 30 minutes of yoga. I usually avoid the entire yoga section. It’s SOOOO boring, but I most certainly didn’t feel like doing aerobics or the balance games. Plus it is late and I didn’t want to be stuck awake the rest of the night. I need what little sleep is left for me tonight. So I completed 23 minutes of yoga. I tried a couple of the strength exercises, but I feel so weak (from being ill) that it just wasn’t happening. When I was sick of it, I headed over and did one round of hula hooping to add on a few quick minutes and then ended with the Yoga Deep Breathing to slow my body back down in preparation for bed.

Today was another good day of results.  I know that I will eventually not have a decrease day…not even a steady day.  There will be days that I go up, but for now I’m going to enjoy this slow progression down.

Today’s Results:
BMI: 26.63 (down .1 from yesterday)
Weight: 174.7 (down .7 from yesterday)
WiiFit Age: 39 (down 4 years)

So today was another good day.  I plan to get home earlier tomorrow (hopefully!!). I didn’t get home until 8 today and do my training earlier.  I’m going to set the alarm for early in the morning to get it done then, but I know I probably won’t sleep well so I won’t get up in the morning. :)

Tuesday and Wednesday

I’m just too sick. I can’t stand to do anything.  I’m going to turn in my official end of the week Think Thin post as 174.7 – down 1.8 pounds from last week!  YEA!!!  That’s almost 2 pounds!  I’m really excited.

I’m scheduling this to post in the morning, and I’ll come back and answer Bridgette’s specific Think Thin posts and set new goals Thursday evening.

Adding with this week’s topic:

This weeks task: What is YOUR motivation? Is it a pair of skinny jeans, a sexy black dress, a bathing suit, or simply being there for your kids?

My motivation has actually been my exercise technique – the WiiFit. There are two things on the WiiFit. First is my Mii.  She’s a chubby little thing and I want her to look skinnier.  Second is the line chart that shows my progress.  I like to see the downward slope.  So I guess for me it’s actually seeing the results of my effort even though I can’t tell in how my clothes fit yet.

Joining Back – Think Thin Thursdays

The Not-So-Blog

Now that I have Internet restored, it’s time to get back into the groove of Think Thin Thursdays. I’m really hoping for my goal of becoming healthier and losing weight will be more successful this time than in the past because of Bridgette and our weekly blogging, Catherine at TheBlondeDiaries who is also participating, and a friend at work who has made this her New Year’s resolution also (Love ya’ Anna).

Since I’ve not really been around, I’m going to kind of start this off as week 1 – a restart I guess.

So for this week, I am setting the following goals

  1. Drink at least 3 bottles of water a day (I’ve been shooting for 4, but honestly I just feel a little yuck making myself drink that much)
  2. Exercise in some form or fashion for at least 30 minutes at a time 3 times between today and next Wednesday (so I can report about my success or failure on Thursday).  I started by completing 30 minutes on the Wii Fit today.
  3. Take my vitamin every day.
  4. Lose ANY weight!

Bridgette assigned us the task this week to blog about breakfast options. Since starting this new goal at the beginning of the month, I’m doing one of the following each morning for breakfast.  I’m either eating a bowl of Special K and drinking a glass of orange juice, drinking a Slimfast chocolate milk and eating a banana, or when I’m in a real hurry eating a Special K bar and a glass of orange juice. Bridgette, I’m not sure any of these are all that exciting, but that’s been my approach the last 3 weeks. I can’t wait to go read what everyone else is doing.

I’m going one step further than I have in the past for these weekly posts. I’m still not 100% sure that I’m feeling happy about this, but I’m going to do it anyways. I want to be held accountable, and I know you guys will help, so I’m going to join in and post my weight as Bridgette is doing.  So my beginning weight for this challenge:

BMI: 26.90
Weight: 177.5 (which is acutally down 4.6 pounds since I was on here last time, but that was a while back)
Wii Age: 39 (wow…10 years over!  YIKES!)

Wish me luck. I’m hoping to see some of these numbers go down for next week’s post without having to go and buy diet pills.
