6 things that never fail to make you smile

This is a pretty easy one.  I think I’m a pretty happy person so lots of things make me smile.  Here’s my list for this week:

  1. My girls.  No matter what seeing them walk into a room always brings a smile to my face.
  2. Nobody puts Baby in the corner.” That quote from my favorite movie always makes me very happy.  Actually to be honest, the entire movie makes me happy.
  3. Hershey’s Hugs.  Oh yea, I love them. I don’t eat much chocolate, but I love my Hugs.
  4. 2 AM Phone Calls.  Not the emergency ones (obviously), but the ones from my crazy friends who don’t seem to realize that I’m a single mom and not out closing down the  bars at 2.  I always wake up and talk to them because even though it annoys me, I also love hearing their voices.
  5. Postcards from around the world.  I have one really good friend that does a lot of traveling and he’s sure to always send me a post card every few months.
  6. Home.  Not the house so much as just returning home after a long trip or a long day at work.  I love to be home.  I love coming around that curve and seeing my home just ahead. Knowing that I will soon be in my space.  I love being home.

What six things always make you smile?  Go write about it and then head to MomDot and sign Mr. Linky so we can all get to know each other.

Small Talk Six

It’s the 3rd Saturday of the Small Talk Six. What is Small Talk Six? It’s a Saturday meme hosted by MomDot that lists a topic each week (go here to see the entire years topics) and you answer with a list of 6 items to fit the topic. It’s super easy and a great way to get to know a lot of other bloggers.

This week’s topic:

“6 things you would be willing to flash someone for.”

This was a pretty tough one for me because flashing people is just not in my personality – nope!  not me.  So what would move me far enough to even consider maybe flashing someone – REALLY QUICK?!?

  1. A winning Texas lotto ticket – especially one where I was the sole winner.
  2. A new house that we had room for and that was in really good shape – especially if it included an inground swimming pool.
  3. A Disney Vacation Club Membership and the money to travel to Disney each year and utilize it.
  4. An account set aside to pay for Becka and Cameron to have enough money to get master’s degrees from a public Texas University and enough for me to go back and get my master’s.
  5. An electronics package – large flat screen tvs, bluray players, surround sound, an ipod touch (I’ve been dying for one of these MP3 players, and the new htc cell phone or palm pro (or both)….
  6. A few new vehicles…or maybe only one but a bank account set aside to replace it every 2 to 3 years.

Ok…well that’s my list.  What would you be willing to flash someone for?  Write the post and go sign MomDot’s Mr. Linky.

Small Talk Six

It’s the 2nd Saturday of the Small Talk Six. What is Small Talk Six? This week’s topic:

6 most romantic or unromantic things that have ever happened to you

This was a struggle for me for some reason.  I think that I have decided I’ve lived a sad life as I really couldn’t come up with much in either category off the top of my head. This one really took some thinking, and I think I probably look at “romantic” different than many others.  But without any further adieu, here is my list for this week:

  1. The most current thing is that I receive sweet and random unexpected post cards for no reason but to say that someone is thinking of me.
  2. As I mentioned yesterday on Aloha Friday, I had the guy I was dating one year show up at my house at midnight on Valentines (well 12:01 to be exact) to be the first person to wish me a Happy Valentines Day.
  3. I have always found it romantic when someone cooks for me.
  4. Kind of like those post cards, I love the random phone calls I’ve received that are for no reason than to tell me that I am loved or being thought of.  I have had a time where he would call when he knew I didn’t have a signal so that I’d have a message to listen to the next time I did have a signal.
  5. Though I don’t really think much of it now, there was a time that the MOST ROMANTIC thing in my life was a proposal on Christmas day.  I do still rank it high on the list of romantic things even though the engagement was ultimately called off.
  6. When my dad had a major wreck there was one person I had to call and talk to – and though it wasn’t a good time for him, not only did he talk me to the hospital, he also dropped his life, went to my house packed me a bag, and drove the hour and a half to hold me and bring me the basics so I could survive a few days in the hospital.

Hope you enjoyed my list. NOW GO WRITE YOUR OWN LIST AND SIGN THE MOMDOT MR. LINKY!!!!
