I WON! I WON!
I got the most awesome email today and wanted to say THANK YOU!!! I got an email from Happy Panda today that I had won a $50 Gift Certificate!! $50!!! YES!! $50!!!!! It was a prize as part of PMKU’s Blogoversary Party. I’m still in total shock! This is so awesome. I don’t even know where to begin in spending it. I’m actually still in shock. I’m really hoping my best friend will call me really soon and tell me she’s expecting. If she does, then I know this will go towards an awesome gift or two from her. I really love the diaper cakes, and with the $50 gift certificate I won, it would actually bring one down to in my budget!! Thank you so much PMKU and Happy Panda!!!
An Island Review
Today I thought I’d do a shout out to one of my favorite siteson the ‘Net. I’m actually thinking of doing this on a regular basis so let me know what you think. I was thinking that each Saturday I would do a featured site (usually a blogger) and tell you about some things going on there, why I like it, etc. For my first week, I’d like to introduce you to An Island Review.
What do I love about An Island Review? Well it may sound obvious, but first of all, I absolutely love reading the reviews there. They are so thorough and usually end up being true to my opinion if I later try out the product. What else? Well, I also love that a lot of the reviews lead to a CONTEST! Yep, you know I love those giveaways, and An Island Review always has some good ones going on. When I went to check it out today, there were more than TEN giveaways featured on her blog! How awesome is that?
Here’s a few currently up for grabs:
- Docia Lynn Jewelery - If you are looking for some awesome jewelry, check out Docia Lynn jewelry. It’s so unique. Would rather pick some up for free? Check out the contest at An Island Review. Ends soon so you better head over there.
- Cabbage Patch Kid - I’ve blogged about this one already, but as a reminder, head over to An Island Review by September 8th for a chance to win a 25th Anniversary Cabbage Patch Doll.
- Kid’s Gardening Kit - You’ll have to head over to enter this contest by September 9th. The Smithosonian Natural Museum of Natural History donated 2 Backyard Bunch Gardening Sets to be given away so you have TWO chances to win this. What child wouldn’t enjoy this? Head over and enter.
- Unique Skins - Unique Skins are some neat covers for your electronic devices to protect them from dings and scratches. They have several different types for more electronics than I would have ever guessed and if you head over to An Island Review, you’ll have the chance to earn one of THREE $15 gift codes.
- Tigger and Pooh DVD - Have a Pooh lover in your home? I’ve always loved Pooh so I’m secretly hoping to win this contest. You’ve got a little longer to enter this one…It doesn’t end until September 12th.
- ChatterChix - I’ve never heard of ChatterChix but after reading the review, this is one that I’d love to win for Cameron, and any little girls in your life would love it too I bet. Haven’t heard of them either? Head over and read the review and be sure to enter the contest while you are there.
- Sleep Is For The Weak - This is a book that I’d love to read. It’s a book by Mommy Bloggers. You can just imagine the stories that will be in this book. Before you buy it though, head over and test your luck at this contest. You might just win a copy for free.
There you go….go read these reviews, enter the contests, and be sure to let me know if you win something.
Wanna Buy My Site?
Not really….I’m not selling my baby - All About Kimberly, but I did find this really neat tool for anyone that thinks they’d like to sale their domain. It’s absolutely one of the coolest things I’ve seen in website/blogging tools. It’s from SmartPageRank.com. They actually give you the estimated value of your website based on things such as PageRank, traffic, backlinks, age of the domain, and directory listings. Isn’t that cool….They also give you this super cool button to put on your site telling it’s value……so drum roll please……..All About Kimberly’s value is………
I just wish the button was a little smaller and maybe the value was a larger font…then I’d post it on my sidebar….it’s just not pretty enough for me…LOL, but I wanted to take long enough to share it with you guys. Go see what your site is valued and come back and share that knowledge! ![]()
Around Town
As I’ve mentioned in the previous posts….my town is a small one, but we do have some neat features that today we are going to explore. Most notably is the history of our town. It is the home of the first university, churches of all denominations, and the first American settlement in Texas. So as you drive around my town, you can take a stop and visit just a few of the over 50 recorded Texas Historical Landmark homes and sites. You can go to this website for some really interesting history behind our town.
If you can stand to stay around (or come back), we’ll have a super festival in honor of The Sassafrass October 24 and 25. Here we’ll have cookoffs, historical reenactments, coloring contests, and tons of other small town friendly fun events (we’ll be having the fall carnival at our school that weekend too)!
A Day Behind
A day late and a dollar short? Not good when you are wanting to go shopping huh? But that’s my story today….But to be perfectly honest, shopping is not a high part of my town. We have a grocery store, 2 dollar stores, and maybe 6 gas stations. Yep…that’s shopping here in this rural East Texas town. Hmm….if you are a city person who likes going to big malls or well known stores, this would not be the place for you. Our charm is our small and quietness…our friendliness - not our shopping.
Now if you want to take a little longer drive, we can drive and be at an ok town for shopping in about 45 minutes, but it’s still not that big. If we truly want to go shopping for things like back to school clothes, Christmas shopping, etc around here….we drive THREE HOURS to Houston! Yep, you heard right - three hours!!
