Winter Vacation Planning

Most people like summer travel, and I admit that I do as well, but I really like to plan a winter vacation. It seems like there are less tourists and better deals if you travel during the winter. Being from the South we like to travel north and see snow during the winter (if we see snow at all, we see an inch…maybe).

For our last few vacations, I’ve avoided a hotel and found a rental house or something like Park City condos to rent for the week or so that we are on vacation. It’s so nice to come back to somewhere that we can stretch out, separate, and even have a home cooked meal if we like.

This year I’m thinking we might hit up Colorado again. We haven’t done that in many years (about 7).  There are some great off the wall places in Colorado where you can find peace, snow, and avoid the crowds especially if we wait and do a long weekend in January instead of the Christmas break.

Anything made out of beer cans or snuff cans

Tractors and tractor accessories

Guns, anyone? Oh yea…guns

And don’t forget the ammo!

Boots

Pets – horses, cows, dogs…it doesn’t matter, we love them all!

Trucks – big trucks, big 4×4 trucks!

ATV’s….4 wheelers, side by sides…we love them all!

What spurred this posts? I recently saw bobcats for sale on the side of the road, and my Dad says, “You can buy me one of those for Christmas.” :-)

That ReArranging Bug

A few times a year, I get that bug…that bug to rearrange/remodel at least one room in my house. It seems that as I pull out the Christmas decorations, I almost always want to do something different with the living room. I must have gotten this from my grandmother who just redid her living and dining rooms with a country look and bought a lot of rustic furniture.

This year it’s the couches that I really want to replace. I am very tempted to go to just a loveseat and recliner (there are only 2 of us in our house).  I’m just tired of my little living room looking so crowded. While I’d love to expand the house, I can’t figure out what to do to make that happen so all I know to do is start downsizing.

A Computer Teacher’s Wislist

I was recently asked to make my classroom wishlist…

tablets for each student in my class (Toshiba Thrives or iPad)

laptop computers instead of these larger towers that have wires EVERYWHERE

mobile computer carts so we can have class outside if we like (hence the need for tablets and laptops)

GOOD video camera and digital camera

Green Screen

Restore Software (software that restores computers after each student logs off)

These were just a few of the items on my list.  What else would you think would be cool to have in a computer classroom?

 

Christmas Shopping for Rings

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here – not due to the weather. It was over 80 degrees today, but because I spend a little time every few days pulling out Christmas presents and wrapping them.

I buy a few things all year, but don’t really keep up with what I’m buying.  This time of year while the Halloween decorations are set out around the house, I have to pull these items out and inventory what I’ve bought and who it was bought for. This enables me to see who is left on my list.

I’ve bought almost all the gifts needed for all the nieces and nephews on my list.  I have a good bit for my grandson, but I have nothing for all the men on the list! You know the brothers, son-in-law, dads, uncles…..I never know what to buy them.

I found a few things that I’ve thought of buying. I was looking at MensTungstenOnline.com, and they have a great selection of tungsten rings. I’m not 100% sure if the men on my list would like them, but I think the black tungsten rings are really nice.

I’m not sure about buying them jewelry, but if I went that way, I would for sure look into these rings.
