Do you ever know what you want to buy, but you aren’t sure where to buy it from? Or maybe who has the best price? I’ve never heard of this until this morning, but there’s a great site called ShopWiki that indexes online stores and their inventory. Yes, there are other directories similiar to this, but ShopWiki is different because on most directories, the only stores listed are those that pay for their placement or offer the directory a percentage of all sales they send to the company. ShopWiki is not like this though. ShopWiki includes all stores – even those who don’t pay or offer affiliate incomes.
As I’ve just found out that a contact of mine is pregnant and a baby shower will soon be in the future, I’ve been checking out their Babies and Toddlers Buying Guide. I usually create baskets with a large number of smaller things for babies – things that you can’t necessarily have too many of and things that others didn’t think to purchase for me when I was pregnant with Cameron. Two of the items that I’ve found great prices on thanks to ShopWiki are door knob covers and a babyview mirror (a mirror you attach to your rearview mirror to able you to better see your little one in the backseat).
I also like to put in things like shampoos, soaps – hygiene type items, as these are items that you can use for the first few years of your child’s life so it’s ok if you end up with 20 bottles. They will get used! One of my favorite brands is the Huggies line of shampoo so I was excited to see an entire category designated for this brand which made it easy to comparitvely shop.
If you shop online often (even if you go through a rewards site like I do), ShopWiki could be a great asset to your shopping experience. I’ve used it to compare prices and list the lowest priced places to purchase the items on my list for baby shower gifts, and I’m now off to my rewards site to compare those prices to the percents back that I receive. By combining these two utilities, I am confident that I’ll be making some very wise shopping decisions for this gift.
