Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

A Sad Moment – But a Christmas Idea

I remember the grandfather clock that I grew up with in my parents home.  I know we didn’t have it forever, but thinking back, I can’t remember not having it.  I also remember my disappointment when the clock died.  This is when Mom and Dad informed me that it really wasn’t all that special of a clock and in fact was a cheap grandfather clock..almost like a knockoff.   I loved that clock…I learned my first 12 roman numerals thanks to this clock.

I’ve already started thinking about Christmas gifts.  My parents are usually two of the hardest people for me to find special gifts for as if they really want something, they buy it.  But I got to thinking the other day – they never did replace that grandfather clock.  And I loved that grandfather clock.  I still look at the place that it set for all those years and miss it.  Maybe it’s time to put a new on there.  But I know nothing about grandfather clocks.  So with that in mind, it’s time to do some online knowledge. I must be informed before deciding if this would be the gift to give to my parents for Christmas.

Imagine my surprise when I found this post that actually talks about buying grandfather clocks for Christmas presents.  It’s a blog that is linked with a store that sales grandfather clocks – 18004cLOCKS.COM.  This turned out really convenient for me so I’ve increased some knowledge about clocks and now have my eye on a few. My favorite is the Howard Miller Greene clock.  It’s simple and beautiful.  This is the perfect fit for my parents house.  I’ve added it to my list of what I wish I could  buy…now to keep on shopping so that by Thanksgiving, I am done shopping.
