Sailing Along the Life of Single Parenthood

Busy, Busy, Busy (Did I Mention We are Busy?)

For the first several weekends of this year (7 I think), I had UIL each weekend which meant that I didn’t really have a weekend. Thanks to the SNOW I got my first weekend off, but even now that I am getting some time “off,” life is not slowing down at all.  It seems that there is something every day (even when it’s something I enjoy, the constantly going hasn’t ended).  For example, this weekend, I went out to eat Friday night in Shreveport and had some much needed adult time. Saturday night was Bull Bash in Lufkin, a tradition I have of going with my Dad, where we watched some great bull riding and 2 concerts from rising country music artists (one who had an awesome stainless steel drums player). Today was softball tryouts for Cameron – like I said, constantly doing something.  Next weekend, we are back to UIL and the next one we leave for the state meet, but that week is SPRING BREAK so after we make it through the state meet, I’ll have a few days “off.”  Yes, that’s in quotation marks because I’m sure there will a million things to do during that time, but it will still be several days of down time.  One thing I hope to do during that break is make our custom shirts for Disney and a lot of the “prep” work we do for Disney vacations.

So Many Methods

Yes, finding those weight loss stories are so motivating, but you also find that everyone has such a different approach to their weight loss.  How do they do it? From major exercise routines and colon cleansers to medications like Stimerex ES, everyone has a different answer. So yes, you can get motivation, but how do you decide which approaches to try? Which will work for you and are still healthy?  That’s a tough question that I’ll be researching and considering over the next few months.  I want to push the boundaries, find something that works, but not make decisions that aren’t healthy.

Vitamins

Do you take vitamins? How do you decide which ones to take? There are SO many out there.  There are vitamins for men, women, teens, and children.  But then there are a dozen types for each of those groups.  They all list such great benefits, you want a few of these and a few of those, but obviously you only need to take one vitamin.  What do you do?  And when I talked to my doctor about vitamins a few years back, he let me know that he thinks women who are of a child bearing age and have any chance of becoming pregnant should take prenatal vitamins. Why? Well actually it made sense after he told me – he said that some of the most important times for a baby is those first few weeks, months when many women don’t even know they are pregnant – this is when that little life needs those essential vitamins.  He says there is no harm to you, in fact the vitamins are good, pregnant or not.  My question this year for him will be – do they help with energy?  That’s why I think I need from a vitamin – some help with my all the time exhaustion.

Inspiration

The Internet has its moments when I think it is such a great tool – one of those is when you need motivation.  By doing a simple search, you can find a wonderful weight loss story that gives you the push to make wise decisions to know you can in fact lose the weight you are seeking.    Thank you Internet for the motivation I needed tonight to know that I can in fact lose a few pounds and get healthier before we hit the DISNEY CRUISE LINE!  What are some steps you’ve taken that helped, were long term, didn’t require gym equipment or a gym membership?

Age Showing

I posted recently about this on my other blog but I’m looking at myself lately and noticing the signs of aging – I’m not as dedicated as I should be to skincare. I’ve never really been diligent about washing my face – never used any kind of acne treatment, moisturizer – nothing, but I’ve started watching the commercials and looking down the aisles at the anti wrinkle serums and such and wondering if any of it does help any at all and should I start trying to use it with some regularity.  Not sure I’m ready to go there, but I think that it is time for me to start looking more seriously at these products.
