Attention to Texas Drivers

Don’t know if other states have this, but Texas sure does:

Your Texas Driver’s License:

This was news to me. And trust me, I got my license out and lookd. It’s really there! It’s very, very small, but it’s there. Something all Texans should know, especially since this has received very little or no publicity. Your Texas driver’s license has a phone number on the back, just above the bar code on the lower left side:

1-800-525-5555. (It’s in VERY SMALL PRINT, but it IS there.) This number can be called for emergency assistance on the highway or wherever you might have trouble while in your car. A service truck will be sent to you. This service is state operated and paid for with your tax dollars. If you are ever stranded, just call the number on your driver’s license…help is on the way. A state trooper will be sent to make sure all is well. This one is worth passing on especially to all the women you know.

Sunday Smile #25

Sunday Smile

It seems I’ve blogged about everything but the kitchen sink lately, but it’s been too long since I shared a Sunday Smile.  What was I thinking to let this go? This week is one that those of us from the south might find more amusing than our northern counterparts as I know the subject matter is close to many of my friends/family members’ hearts.

AMA vs NRA vs ABA

Doctors

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statisticscourtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now think about this:

Guns

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that’s 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188.

Statistics courtesy of FBI
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Remember, ‘Guns don’t kill people, doctors do.’

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.

We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers, for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!

Note: Please note this is all in fun and only meant to bring a smile to your face at the logic of the person who created this message. :)

Going Green – Ceiling Fan Problem

There are some times when I’ve thought that it was worth it to pay more for things, but then I’ve also go an attitude that if there isn’t a reason – why bother?  That was my approach to my ceiling fans when we bought this house. I knew I wanted fans in each room (I’d rather run them than the air conditioner in early spring and late fall).  Now that we are making a move to go more green, I’ve started buying the “green” light bulbs, but after getting them home, I ran into an issue – the bulbs are too large for the covers that go over the bulbs. Make sense? Or did I confuse you?  In any case, now I have to either search for other light bulbs or upgrade our ceiling fans.  I’m not sure which to do – hmmmmm.

Always Pushed Aside

The one goal that always gets pushed aside? – my weight loss goals. Do you have that problem? I’ve been thinking today (now that week one is out of the way at school) and trying to decide when/how to get more fitness into my weekly routine.  I would love to start each day with a workout, but I already get up so early that I know realistically, I’m probably not going to get up any earlier, and right now I’m exhausted when I get home in the afternoons and have actually napped almost every day.  So that leaves me in a dilemma – how do I squeeze a few workouts into my routine each week?  I’m looking for ideas so if anyone has any – please send along!
