Yes..it’s that time – here in Texas we still have almost a month, but I know some aren’t so lucky (and some of you have until after Labor Day – lucky you), but nevertheless, I know it’s that time because I’ve started noticing the Back to School parties on some of my favorite blogs – one of those is at Kiddies Corner Deals. WARNING: HOUSE CLEANING
Just wanted to warn you that I’m going to be doing some house cleaning around here for the next week or so – especially cleaning up sidebars and such so if you come by and things look weird, just bare with me, I’ll have it fixed as soon as I can!
Home Sweet Home!!
I am happy to report that I am home! I’m home! I’m HOME! Yes, that’s repetitive but after 12 days away, I’m so glad to be home! I have traveled via plane and car for days it seems. I would love to sit in my house I think for DAYS and not leave – not once! I miss it! After all this time of traveling, I’ve been thinking I need a rv so at least I could go “home” every day. This has been crazy. I’ve loved every leg of my journey – the quality time with everyone at each trip was GREAT! But I’m still glad to be home. This has been wild – and most of this trip was alone without kids. That’s been really interesting. I’m hoping to get the blogs up and going regularly now that I’m back home as Internet was sparse at all 3 locations.
Blogher Notes
I just wanted to take a few minutes to let you guys know that I’m still in Chicago at Blogher. It’s great, and you can read brief posts as I have time between sessions at my other blog, Southern Girl Reviews. I’m trying to post a few quick posts here and there about how things are going.
Hoping to post soon about winning some great prizes…they are giving so much away here. I’ve been dropping my cards in so many bowls for contests that I can’t even remember what all I’ve entered. About the only thing I’ve noticed totally absent is gaming systems – like the Wii, XBox, etc but there is a new Jumpstart game coming to Wii in September that looks neat (and yes, I think I entered a contest for it).

I’m in Chicago!!
What an interesting day it has been….I woke up and left the house at 2 this morning and headed to Houston to leave for Blogher. It was a long drive by myself at that hour. Yes, I arrived to Hobby WAY TOO EARLY but I always fear there being something in Houston that stops traffic completely and then I run late.
Trip went perfectly though and I had no problems at all. Long line at luggage check, but it moved smoothly. Other than that, no complaints. Made it through security without any problems.
Then I grabbed a bagle and coke and sat, and sat, and sat. I brought a new book to read – it’s almost finished! I forgot my blanket so I couldn’t nap!
I had a small A so I loaded quickly. This is the first time I’ve flown by myself so I wasn’t so sure about picking a seat, but I found a nice friendly looking woman and had a seat. (I also paid attention that I wasn’t sitting in front of a kicking kid or behind someone that looked like they’d lay their seat down in my lap.) Flight went smoothly….we landed a whole FIVE minutes early! Isn’t that spiffy?
So….the different?
Part of my luggage arrived with the 6:30 flight instead of my 8:30 flight and was sitting to the side locked up when I arrived.
Chicago cab drivers (or at least mine) aren’t as friendly and outgoing as the Texas and Lousisiana cab drivers I’ve experienced. Can you say NO communication?
Advertising….Never being here I looked at buildings, signs, etc…I looked for the differences in Chicago and Houston..maybe it was just the portion we drove through, but I noticed far fewer billboards here. Houston is COVERED with them (everything from cars to beer to lawyers wanting to help you with you mesothelioma.) I didn’t notice really much of that here.
And that’s my status….I’m currently waiting on my roommate to arrive so we can check into the room and I can dump my luggage and then I need FOOD. I’ve been awake a LONG time and I’m hungry! Tonight is dinner at Shula’s with the MomDot friends!!!!
