SwimSuit Season is Fast Approaching

We pulled the cover off the pull this weekend and it was GREEN and NASTY!!  Ugh!  I was really disgusted, but it’s nothing new.  The pool is green every spring. I’ve never figured out how to keep it clean through the winter.  With no time to run back and forth to a town big enough that has pool chemicals, I ran to the local dollar store and bought 10 gallons of bleach. We poured all 10 gallons in the pool Sunday.  Monday the pool looked a LOT better. It’s nowhere near swim ready, but it’s not green and algae ridden anymore.  It’s now just murky.  I bought 5 more gallons today, and Cameron dumped it in.

This got me thinking – it’s about swimsuit season, and like I said yesterday – I’m NOT READY!   I’m sure that it happens all the time, but it’s when I’m so concerned about my weight that I notice the commercials and ads in the newspaper and magazine for diet aids such as Nutrislim and  lipo 6 black.  It sounds freaky, but it seems like maybe the advertisers know that summer is approaching and so they are pushing their “fast slimming” techniques.  Have you noticed that?  It’s driving me crazy, but maybe I’ll use that as more motivation to get my act together.

The Good and The Bad

Today I have good and bad news – the good.

The GOOD: I have a job reassignment.  I currently teach high school English at our school – I’m the only English teacher grades 9 through 12.  It is now official that next year I’ll be the business/technology teacher.  I’m so excited. That’s what I went to school for – business/technology.  I’m so excited to be teaching it.  I have a lot to do before August, but it will be exciting to developed new curriculum and teach a new subject.  I was ready for a change and now I can’t wait for summer – not so much for the vacation (but yes that too) but so I can start preparing for August.  YEA!

The BAD: I can’t seem to lose any more weight.  I admit to not being real dilligent with my exericse and dieting, but I’ve not been bad either.  I’ve got to get more regular with my exercise. I got two new physical fitness type games for the Wii that I’m going to try out but I have to find something motivating.  I’ve avoided any diet pills or natural appetite suppressants or anything like that, but it’s getting real hard to stay motivated.

Sunday Smile #21 – April 19

Sunday Smile

Sunday Smile is a meme to share something about your week that brought a smile to your face (and will bring one to your readers). For me this is usually a forwarded message I got….the best one I received that week – the one that made me laugh out loud. So check out my Sunday Smile today and then go back to your blog and post something to make your reader’s smile – a forwarded like message, a story about something that happened to you, or even a photo of a funny moment….Then come back and sign Mr. Linky below so that we can all enjoy each other’s smiles as the week progresses and we get busy.

The Bus Stop

Husband and wife are waiting at the bus stop with their nine children. A blind man joins them after a few minutes. When the bus arrives, they find it overloaded and only the wife and the nine kids are able to fit onto the bus. So the husband and the blind man decide to walk. After a while, the husband gets irritated by the ticking of the stick of the blind man as he taps it on the sidewalk, and says to him, ”Why don’t you put a piece of rubber at the end of your stick? That ticking sound is driving me crazy.” The blind man replies, “If you had put a rubber at the end of YOUR stick, we’d be riding the bus, so shut the hell up.”

Small Talk Six – April 18

It’s another week of the new MomDot meme, Small Talk Six. The object of Small Talk Six is to give us something fun to blog about on Saturdays that also tells our readers a little about us. It’s a great way to make new friends and find out things they would normally never share.

This week’s topic is 6 animals (domestic, wild, or exotic) you think would be fun to own as pets.

This is one of the tougher ones for me as I’m not really big into pets.  We have beta fish, hermit crabs, hamsters, and dogs, but they are all really the girls’ pets. I’m just not a pet person.

There’s really only one pet I’ve wanted for a long time is a Clydesdale.

clydesdales

Yep…I want a genuine Budweiser horse.  I’m not getting one, but I’d LOVE To have one – or two or three….LOL.  It would be so fun to have them in all the local parades.

Coming up with 5 more pets though – that’s the challenge.

I’m NOT into cats or dogs.  The rodents really do NOTHING for me. I do think the hermit crabs are kind of cool, but we already have them.

So…let’s see.

There was a time in my life I thought a monkey would be fun…..so #2 Monkey.

Another fish I’ve wanted to add to our collection, but because of the work involved with them, I’ve avoided is Mickey Fish.

So far we’ve stuck to beta as they don’t require – real tanks and filters and stuff, but if I ever make the plunge to fish that require maintenance, Mickey Fish will be our first purchase.

Ok…so I’ve got 3…that’s only half.  I’ve got to come up with 3 more?!?!

Hmmm….ok. Well I love Charlotte’s Web so how about going with that and having a cute little pig?  It would have to be a small one, some miniature breed.

Speaking of miniatures – how about minature horses?  They are cute and seem like they’d be fun if you were a pet kind of person.

Whew!  That’s 5 one to go – what is one more fun pet?

Yes…I got it….A Parrot!  If I had one that you could actually train to talk and everything then a  Parrot could be fun.parrot

All right…there are my 6 pets I think it would fun to own.

  1. Clydesdale
  2. Monkey
  3. Mickey Fish
  4. Pig
  5. Minature Horse
  6. Parrot

What are your 6? Head over to MomDot to participate and sign Mr. Linky.

Monday Morning

Monday Morning Meme is hosted by WriteFromKaren and is always a set of questions that really get you thinking, and I think that reveal a lot about you to your readers.

This week’s questions are:

1. How long have you been blogging? Who is your target audience? How often, if at all, do you think about quitting or taking an extended break? What do you do when you start feeling burned out with blogging?

I started blogging in December 2007. I started blogging mainly for family and friends, but have now evolved into writing product reviews and broadening my target audience.  I don’t just think about, but I do take extended (by extended I mean 3 or 4 days) from blogging from time to time as I don’t want my family to be neglected by my online time.  I try to schedule posts for those times though so that I’m not missed much online.  I actually think that a break from blogging cures that burned out feeling and you come back with fresh ideas and ready to improve your blog.

2. What’s on your mind now?

All the things I have to get done this week.  Isn’t that always the story on Monday morning?

3. If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the body or the mind of a 30-year old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want? Explain your answer, please.

I would choose the mind.  I hate to have a poor body, but I’ve witnessed multiple people who start to lose their mind and it’s such an awful experience – especially during the process of actually losing it – when you know that you are losing it.

4. What would you constitute a “perfect” evening for you?

Time with my girls doing anything.  I love when the 3 of us spend time together whether we go out and do shopping or nails or we stay in and do movies and popcorn.
