I was planning to buy my youngest a mp3 player for her 8th birthday and had about decided on a Mix Stick from Disney – yes I know I could get a mp3 player with more space for cheaper, but this is for her birthday, and I think she’d love the Disney aspect to it. I also liked that I could just buy the little Mix Stick albums instead of finding the music online and paying for it that way. But then today while perusing the Disney website, I found the Mix Max which will also play videos!! I’m almost sold on buying this (and soon as right now if you spend more than $75 at Disney, you get 2 free Wall E tickets and we’ll be going to see Wall E this week!! Plus they have $6 shipping today! But I’m trying to hold out a couple days and while I’m thinking about it, I’d also love to hear other reviews of it.

Wow! At the Shopping!
I did some major shopping this weekend both online and in the actual stores. I found some great deals while we were at browsing in summer clothes for Cameron. She can still wear cute shorts and such at school (no real dress code in Elementary) and it seems that a lot of the stores are ready to get the summer clothes out of their stores. We cashed in on that and Cameron now has about 4 new back to school outfits and a pair of back to school shoes. I’ve also got several birthdays coming up in our family in July and August so I’ve started browsing for gifts. I picked my Dad up some promotional products for his pasture maintenance business online that I know he’ll love as he’s mentioned wishing he had this or that a couple times, but he doesn’t use a computer and local places are so expensive. The only thing I have yet to buy is Cameron’s Cinderella costume for her birthday. We looked at them this weekend though and if the online auctions I’m watching go too high tomorrow, I’ve already got that picked out and ready to purchase.
Cheryl Burke Takes Vacation
Dancing with the Star professional has taken her first vacation in three years according to Gossip Girls. While she normally spends her summers doing Dancing with the Stars tours, this year she is focusing on her San Francisco dance studio and reportedly taking a much deserved vacation in Hawaii!! I hope she gets well rested as I look forward to seeing her next season! She always does such a good job coaching her celebrities. I think she is my all time favorite of all the professional dancers to appear on Dancing with the Stars.

A Fun Vacation for My Dad
My dad turns 50 July 24, and I’ve been trying to come up with a very unique way for us to celebrate. I’m in Houston visiting a friend this week and just discovered EagleRider. Eagle rider specializes in Motorcycle Tours which is a company that rents you motorcycles and you can drive them from one EagleRider to another or you can simply return it to the same EagleRider – much like a car rental place. In addition, they also offer guided tours. These aren’t just any motorcycles either. EagleRider has Harley-Davidsons, Hondas and BMW motorcycles. How cool would it be to be given a motorcycle ride for your birthday? They have so many different locations that he could pick his destination and check it in there, and I could be there waiting for him, and we could come home together. I can remember my dad having a motorcycle when I was young, and I’ve heard him mention the words lately as gas prices increase so I think this would be a fun way to have a “mid life crisis.” He could be young and free – from Houston to Dallas or Vegas or wherever he chose. I’ve only thought of one catch – that I have to find a way to get my hands on his drivers license to see if he still has his license to drive a motorcycle.
New Samantha Brown Series Premiers Tonight
Tonight on the Travel Channel, a new Samantha Brown series will premier. The series is called ”Passport to Great Weekends.” After viewing some previews on YouTube, it looks like a very fun show to watch. I wish I wasn’t out of town so I could DVR it, but I’ll be sure to record it on it’s next airing.
In this series, Samantha will explore fun destinations that would make for great weekend getaways. I’m proud to say the great state of Texas will be featured – The Broken Spoke in Austin. Also on her list so far are Vegas, Boston, South Beach, and New York. She will continue to travel across the country, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. I love the idea of being able to take weekend vacations so I will for sure be checking out Samantha Brown’s new series.
Tonight’s shows will begin at 10 PM EST and will appear in the following order (from The Travel Channel):
10PM EST: Las Vegas - Sam’s been to Las Vegas before, but on this weekend trip she’s decided to throw caution to the wind. She unleashes her inner sexy with the Pussy Cat Dolls, tends bar at the Double Down, and lives life at 165 miles per hour in the Las Vegas fast lane. (will reair at 11PM, June 27 at 2AM EST and 8:30 PM EST)
10:30PM EST: Austin – Though Sam’s been to Austin before, this time she’s going on a musical vacation and is determined to get the song of the city under her skin.
